My M2C tracktool

Hi everybody,

after spending some months only reading in this forum I guess it's time to show you my M2 Competition tracktool project.

We got our new M2 Competition as one of the first ones in Germany last year.

The list of features was not very long_

- DKG
- Harman Kardon
- Sportbrakes
- Sportseats

First of all we stripped the interior and sold the seats

After a lot of work was done this are the modifications so far:

- Öhlins TTX suspension
- M4 GT4 front and rear axles
- OZ Hyper GT 10x19
- Pirelli Trofeo R 295/30R19 square
- Recaro Pole Position
- MK-Rennsporttechnik seat mounts
- Schroth 6-point harnesses
- MKR-Engineering half cage
- M240i Cup style rear wing
- carbon fibre bonnet
- carbon fibre trunk lid (CSL-style)
- Pagid RSL29 front brake pads
- Milltek exhause
- Lithiumax battery
- AP front lip
- AP diffusor

The car is supposed to be a project car for my motorsport business I'm running at the Nürburgring. First laps are done and we are quite satisfied so far. Especially the suspension is increcible.

Here some pictures:

The front lip is still missing on these pictures. I will do some pictures of the latest state this week.

How do you fit the 295s in front? I thought that would rub for sure.

Yes, with the standard axles that wouldn't work. The GT4 wishbones are shorter than the original ones and you can adjust them. But even with the GT4 axles we had to modify the wheel arches.

Here are some pictures from the latest state:

Only front pads? Is that because RSL29 rears are out of stock? I know they are on backorder in Australia.

Why trofeo R's instead of cup 2's or an R compound tire?

Have you thought about a ceramic brake option since it's a dedicated track car? If no, how come?

OMG this is so sexy and pretty much how I want my M2C to look.

Matthias do you have links to the parts you used? and why did you decide on the silver brakes instead of APs or similar?

EDIT: I see that the 2NH brakes are for sale on you FB page

Also did you consider the M performance front wings? or do you think they do not add much to the brake cooling?

What a great car it is , congrats!

The carbon bonnet and front lid is from our supplier MK-Rennsporttechnik. You can buy it from us.

Still much too heavy. It is 1530kg now without driver and fuel.

For Nordschleife the original brakes are absolutely ok. So for us there is no reason to change the brakes.

Ceramic brakes are an option regarding the unsprung masses. But at the moment we are quite satisfied with the brakes we have. The TrofeoR is the best tire for laptimes on the dry Nordschleife. And that's what we built the car for.

We had no reason the change anything on the rear brakes so far. Maybe that will change when we go to tracks like Hockenheim or Sachsenring. At the Nordschleife this setup works quite well.

Thanks everybody for the great feedback. I try to keep this thread alive with pictures and videos. We will got testing at the Nordschleife this evening again. So maye we have our first laptime later today

How has this beast not made the front page?!

Crazy how such a stripped down car has really only lost ~300lbs. Doesn't bode well for the CS...

Here is the first onboard of our M2C. Still some work to do with the setup and the engine is still stock. Struggled today a lot with oversteering but we know in which direction we have to go.

What an insane build!! Can't wait to see more.

Any more thoughts on weight savings other than the brakes?

That weight is crazy, what did it start out at?

OK well now I am worried I did not pick them as an option.

What do you think of the m performance Kotflügel?

Edit anyone know where I can get the tow straps and covers?

The tow straps you can get from us or every BMW dealer. They are original BMW Motorsport parts. The covers we cut out by our own.

In stock condition our M2C was around 1690kg.

Cool !

I have two questions:
1. Where did you buy or did you make this ear plug? I have the same towing material and I can't find such a cutout plug anywhere?
http://www.mkr-engineering.de/_M2C/MKR_M2_Umbau_38.JPG

2. When the car is not driven for a long time, the battery holds?
