What a steal!!

This car has been announced in this thread ("Someone in US is getting a San Marino Blue M2 Competition") (March 2019):

M2 Competition featuring Individual paint, see also this thread ("Individual color on M2 Competition: 3 Frozen colors scheduled to be built") (August 2018):

If your dealer is saying you can get Individual for the M2 Competition?
You can't.

Good lord, what a waste. M2PDX has an SMB auto wrap on his car, that I've seen in person, that looks flawless. I think he's said that it cost around $2k...

But hey, if you've got the money go for it I guess.

Sorry I don't follow. Isn't individual paint usually like $5k? Why the ludicrous price?

Wasn't Pure Metal Silver Indiv. paint cheaper?
With $24k, I would spend it all on M performance parts.

seems like a mistake, individual paints can get pricey like some silvers but I haven't seen any above $20k

I'll settle for non individual paint... Spend that money on track time and instruction.

Not a mistake. You can't get individual paint on the M2 unless you're very high up. Hence the price.

that color in particular is what I'm referring to, it's never $24k. I'm fully aware of the individual program and not new around here. I'm sure if tou ask the right people it can be done for not a ridiculous amount

The color is not the premium driver. The car not being allowed to customize as Individual is what is driving the price. There are always one offs if you know the right people have have deep enough pockets.

It's a very involved process for the 2 series, which includes transferring the vehicle to another location for painting.

I wouldn't pay for it on my daily driver, even if I could swing it simply because if some degenerate with minimum liability (10k in NY state) smashes into me and I'm depended on some local body shop to repaint it, it makes whole process a waste..

On a weekend car, maybe but probably still no.

It's 24k because individual paint is not possible in the Leipzig factory. It goes to a different factory to get painted on a different line. Extra cost comes from the shipping and logistics of that

This. Leipzig doesn't support individual paint. There is only one M2 in individual paint to date - it was the M2 end of production Austin yellow OG M2. 24k is very expensive and should I wouldn't do it even if I had the money IMO.

That is the most reasonable explanation so far albeit still steep for added logistics.
