That image sounds a lot better than the mass hysteria that my dealer told me

This is much better news compared to the 100,000 cars noted in the other thread.

The more I read, the more im convinced that bmw doesnt have a clue. I've heard 100,000 a few times, my dealer told me up to 250,000, and now this says a mere few thousand. I dont care as long as im sitting in my car driving away from BMW on may 17th.

This is from my CA. My car is still in production.

BMW has issued a voluntary recall for several types of cars...all 2 series, all 330xi's, all 4 series, the new Z4, M4's and M2's. This is due to a supplier issue on the driver and passenger side airbags. Because of a supplier issue in production, the driver and passenger side airbags could become damaged during deployment.

There are approximately 11,700 vehicles affected by this. It affects cars from 2018, '19 and '20.

Currently your car does not show being affected by this recall, however, it has not advanced along the production process. I can see that is was to be built on 4/29, but the car is still in the Assembly finish/quality check phase.

This leads me to believe that BMW may be addressing this on your car before it leaves the factory!

Ok so I'm in the same boat.

Here's what's interesting and my dealer is protesting... mine was an EU re-delivery.

How do you issue a stop sale on a vehicle that was paid for, sold titled, registered and delivered.

This is BS in my opinion. They are our cars and we should be able to get them now and work through our dealer to get the airbags replaced at a later date of our choice.

So pissed right now

Agreed. I can take it in on my own time. Not like a tiny kneebag is that big of a deal. If it were all the airbags or a main bag I'd be more concerned. Surely we can sign a release or something

Did you cancel yours? BMWNA told me not to cancel mine and it will be resolved by then. I have my doubts

Did not cancel anything but I have little reason to believe that VPC will get parts in, start & finish the repair , release to trucking and get it delivered in time.

I still want someone to explain to me how you can issue a STOP SALE on a sold vehicle. The vehicle belongs to me at this point, not BMW.

We are victims of a bad process.

My friend ordered a Tesla model 3 performance on April 29 and takes delivery today lol. I ordered my M2C in DEC 2018!

Agreed. I have my plates, registration cards, insurance, bill of sale, and title. It's not like the engine is faulty or a seat is in backwards

And even if it was... it's your vehicle! You can't "stop sale"

Also, per OP this is a voluntary recall...... not mandated.

That's crazy, if you already took ED... BMW is basically kidnapping your car. I'm sure there's some legal liability issue where they can't release a vehicle with a known airbag issue per the US DOT. Perhaps it's not even in BMWs hands. Either way you're paying for a car you don't even have now so I'd raise a complaint and make them give you a loaner until it arrives. A nice loaner at that, not some BS economy model.

I don't much have much to stand on as I didn't do ED and haven't taken delivery so I'm just stuck waiting while my car sits at the entry port with no clear solution as of today. At least I believe that already sold vehicles are considered Priority 1 so hopefully that's something.

What they didn't tell you is that they spilled some ball bearings in the airbag so it acts as a claymore mine into your nuts.

Hey just thought I'd let you know the service manager at my dealer is fighting with BMW NA.

Unfortunately, they have to hold the car despite everything we've talked about.

Only thing left to do is make lemonade from lemons and seek a BMW rental paid for by BMW NA and seek compensation.

@2011M3V8 let me know how that goes as far as compensation. If they call me tomorrow and delay my pickup/say I can't take the car I'm asking for a refund or significant compensation. Unacceptable

Refund will be difficult to pull off my friend.

I do think a loaner car and some sort of compensation is warranted.

My goal is as follows:

1. M340 loaner
2. Free or below dealer cost wheel/tire warranty

This to me is fair.

Per BMWs PCD policy, they guarantee pickup within 3 weeks of your given date. Wheel and tire warranty I wouldn't mind I suppose, or more M performance credit. Already have some of that due to them simply forgetting to schedule my delivery. Good luck swinging a loaner that isn't an X5 or X7. My dealer has two M4CS they can't seem to sell

I'm a little confused though by some of your comments.

Is your car a European redelivery? If so, PCD won't schedule your delivery until your car is released to carrier.

My car was dropped off in Munich on 26MAR. PCD delivery is 10 week lead time which puts me at JUNE 6th.

Although I was planning to take delivery at PCD next week, they are still well within their promised timeline.
