i3s MY2019 Audio Upgrade

Hi all,

So is anyone beside me really disappointed in the quality of audio served by Harman Kardon audio set up in i3's?

Does any of you have experience with upgrading audio in the LCI i3?
Is there any replacement for custom woofer? 100x230mm?

I am starting to think about pulling the trigger on Bimmertech Premium Audio AMP first, however from what I have heard there is a hazard of the OEM wire harness not being able to withstand anything over 40W to speakers thus being a fire hazard.

Any input on this matter?

Cheers

It's all relative.
When compared to baseline audio in i3, HK is a great upgrade.
When compared to other BMWs with HK, is not that good.
When compared to Tesla audio quality - it's total sh%t.

Then again, Tesla uses the entire surface space inside the doors as a speaker box for 8" door speakers:

It's a tiny car, where would you put it?

BavSound has a speaker upgrade for i3s, but excludes the sub:

I assume you bought the i3 and are comfortable slicing the wiring to your heart's content?
If so - go for it.
If the answer is no to any of the above questions, you may want to learn to live with HK sound. Once you get upto highway speeds, the not-so-well insulated wind noise will overwhelm any sound system.

Thank you for the response.

I was comparing H/K in i3 to my H/K in E92, there's a night and day difference between the two.

I have got a response from bimmertech that they have tested their amp extensively on i3, and wiring is a non-issue.

What I am mising most in my i3 is the midrange, and I hope this can be addressed.

I am avoding highways with this car, as the range drops drastically when going around 140-160 km/h. (Around 100KM of total range when fully charged with the 120ah model)
