Can't Connect

I am SO CONFUSED. Spent more than an hour with ATT on the phone to get my Hotspot working. But it required CAR PLAY to be disconnected. Now my phone can't find the car to Connect via Bluetooth. So I have an internet signal but no way to get the iPhone to link to the car. The hotspot and Carplay both show up as wifi choices on my phone and you have to pick one or the other. What am I doing wrong?!
