GoPro headrest mount fix needed

For track days and general road trips I want to use a GoPro in car, ideally sitting behind / level with the headrests in the centre of the car. The only problem being that the seats on the M2 Comp doesn't come with the metal bars to attach a GoPro mount to. Has anyone seen a fix to this issue? Ideally I don't want to put a suction cup on the inside of the windscreen as I want to be able to watch my hands on the steering wheel when on track days. I know some people on YouTube mount the GoPro to the drivers side window, but then the A-pillar gets in the way of the shot, which is far from ideal on track days.

Cheers in advance,

Karl

Moonroof can work if you have one. Otherwise might be stuck with the windshield. Rear windscreen is likely too far back.

I don't have the sunroof, so maybe I'll just have to put it on the windscreen.

I picked this up last track season and love the results!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XIB6SK4..._wScDCb0QKB3H2

It mounts on the headrest and has been rock steady.

Haha i have the same problem for the kids ipad mounts which need conventional head restraint posts. That was the first comment. "Nice car but where does my ipad fix?"

1st world problems eh?

OP what about rear passenger quarter window sucker mount with passenger seat reclined back out of shot? Or get a rollcage fitted and mount it on that

Definitely first world problems 😂

I like your thinking on the rear passenger window + suction pad suggestion. That might be the way to go 👌🏻👏🏻

I used a go pro sucker mount on the back bumper, at 193mph at a Vmax event on my M6GC.

They're pretty solid...

That's good to know.
I'm getting the new Hero 7 Black so I'm looking forward to getting some decent footage 😎

I amazed it stays stuck to the very slightly textured surface - I wouldn't have even tried it, but looks like it works though.

Might be a fix for the ipad dilemna too!

Yes - its one of the reasons I haven't upgraded my chairs in OGM2 - nextbase ipad mounts reside on both sets of headrest stanchions !!!

Mike,

I have been doing some research in to the GoPro mounting dilemma for the M2C and I think I have cracked it with a solid suction mount solution that can be attached either to the back of the seat or even from the inside of the rear windows that will reach between the two seats. The company I have found even does a solid looking iPad Mini mount also I am giving them a call tomorrow so I will let you know how I get on. The equipment will most likely be engineering overkill, but it looks like solid British engineering nonetheless.

So done with that apple addiction. Just did a 2500 mile road trip with mine for spring break. ZERO electronic devices allowed. We actually talked, and they asked so many questions. It used to be like traveling with little apple zombies.

Right, here is the final solution I came up with and confident it's going to deliver some smooth track footage with the new GoPro Hero 7 Black. It's totally over-engineered but I couldn't find anything else that would do the job I wanted. Here are some pictures of the setup....

What brand is that? I went with Matthews and got tons of shake with one suction cup and iPhone on the windshield. Was thinking of triangulating it but I see better videos with guys using normal GoPro suction mounts. I had the GoPro on the bmw tow hook mount and that did fine. So maybe the iPhone need better stabilization?

I'm going to hold off putting any GoPro's on the outside of the car for now, but I like that product

Hi, in the UK the brand is Hague. The three parts I bought were the Hague SM Suction pad with 5/8" socket (x2), a Hague 1000mm connecting rod and a Hague SM8 Ball Head. They are all part of the 5/8 range as they are all compatible with each other. I bought the kit from https://www.cameragrip.com/5-8-compatible-products/

Another name for the products, from what I can tell, is Manfrotto. So perhaps you can search for this in the US.
