Tire Saver Ramps for Storage - Flat Spot and Flat Tire Prevention
My M2 has gone in a 3 months storage over the winter.
Since I just replaced the original Continentals with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, this winter I decided to invest in a set of storage ramps to hopefully prevent the chance of flat spots. Most ramps on the market are very expensive, but I found BunkerWall makes a relatively low cost double-wide set ideal for the very wide M2 tires. Surprisingly, Amazon and eBay charge significantly more than buying direct from BunkerWall and shipping was only $10, no tax. The only negative reviews seem to be about slippage trying to roll on to them and cracking on heavy vehicles (RVs, etc.). I followed one reviewer's suggestion and purchased two 4 foot rubberized kitchen shelf liners from the local dollar store and cut them in half to place under the racks on the concrete garage floor. I still couldn't back onto them without slippage until I rolled forward a few inches and then backed up onto them with a small running start. https://bunkerwall.com/collections/r...vention-8-pack I've also been using a CTEK MUS-4.3 battery tender (purchased from Amazon) which appears to be the same one BMW markets under their own name. I also bought the CTEK Comfort Connect Extension Cable so the wiring could be fished down next to the manifold opening rather than closing the hood on the wiring. https://smartercharger.com/collectio...k-multi-us-4-3 Last edited by RAM_F30_F87; 01-03-2019 at 11:41 AM.. |
