Is it you BMW M2 CSL!

COMMENTS

This BMW M2 has just been spotted testing at the Nurburgring and it may be the rumored upcoming BMW M2 CSL, which resident insider ynguldyn has pegged to be introduced mid-2020 as MY2021, for a one year run.

The biggest indication that this is not just an M2 Competition model fitted with M Performance Parts are its M Carbon Ceramic Brakes, which are not available (either as option nor M Performance Part) on the M2 Competition. Its trunk spoiler is also unique - different than the M Performance version and not yet seen before.

Here are the differences from the standard M2 / M2 Competition:

- Carbon ceramic brakes
- Carbon fiber roof
- Sculpted hood with bulge
- Front spoiler lip
- Trunk spoiler
- Rear diffuser
- 19 inch forged wheel Y-spoke Style 763 M
- Michelin Sport Cup 2 Tires (265/35/19 rear)

BMW M2 CSL?!

Could be, but it just loks like an M2C with some of the M Perf. parts installed (which you would expect to see on a CSL).

CCBs isn't an M Perf part.

That trunk spoiler is new and currently not available. Also it has the CCBs so this should be a new model. Looks like they are going to add bunch of M performance parts (no CF trunk lid or fenders tho) on it possibly with a ~20hp increase and call it CS/L. Can't wait to see the final product

BMW is pumping everything out.

New spoiler looks similar to the M4 CS and the F90 M5 M Performance PRO spoilers. Same design can be seen on the upcoming X3M and X4M.

There has to be some explanation for this "brilliant" design! Looks like it'll be a theme going forward with the M lineup. This is the next gen G80 M3:

BMW really needs to emphasis the "L" in this model. Utilize all available CF body panels, incorporate (manual) racing seats, and limit electronic tech where possible. If the curb weight comes to <3400 lbs, it will be a keeper. andrewc89 is right though. That big, heavy muffler needs to go.

LOL and what exhaust muffler...

Let's wait and see what they release. It will definitely have a price tag 20% over the M2C

I really hope all these little add on pieces become better integrated as the design develops.

It’s like watching a Hollywood Star slowly transforming after countless plastic surgeries.

If they keep changing little things here and there then before you know it the beauty and simplicity of the original will be lost all together...

I'm sure there are people willing to install them regardless... this is not a M2 CSL imop

I heard the reason the muffler was so big on the e9x M3 was to limit the wind resistance on the diffuser/bumper at high speed. Could this be a similar idea? Either way I would remove it.

The tune I want for the M2C will come from the M4CS BMW will position this car between M2C (410HP) and M4CS (460HP) so my guess is 430HP.

Nice!

To me that bonnet dome looks great painted rather than exposed carbon.
