forgot to install black cllp on turbo to intercooler pipe... bad?

So i forgot to reinstall that annoying black clip on the turbo to intercooler pipe after installing my FMIC. How worried should I be about leaks coming from that connection. Do I really need to tear the car apart again and put that piece on?

That clip helps hold the metal clip fully on. it wouldnt be much to drop the cover and put that on just on that side. Id want to go back and put it on but thats just me. for peace of mind

Sounds like the OP is referring to the black plastic "locking" clip that holds the ends of the metal "circlip" in place. Probably not necessary, but wouldn't hurt to put it back on.

Ah. Okay, come to think of it... I didn't reinstall those on either side

Pretty sure I broke them when removing from factory pipes.

Anyone have a part number? For a few bucks, I may pick up a pair and reach in to snap on. That being said, Ive had zero issues since install which has been at least a few thousand miles.

Every diy I’ve seen on fmic, I’ve never seen anyone re-install that black plastic piece. Most of the time it breaks in the removal process. As long as the metal C clamp is in all is good.

Haha. Thanks for the reaffirmation fellas... I was beginning to feel like a hack for breaking mine. I made sure everything was together snug with metal retaining clips in place properly and no issues whatsoever so far. I guess we're fine without them!

Black plastic piece is to help keep the metal clip in place - just praying for you that you don't drive on bumpy roads.

I understand its purpose. I would think you would have to be off-roading your car for it to be jolted out of position. Anything is possible though.

🤦*♂️ even the different fmic companies say you don’t replace the black plastic. It’s German engineering. Some things over engineered (clip plus black plastic) and some things under engineered ( plastic charge pipe ).
