2D06 - Air Mass System Fault Code
A couple of weeks ago I replaced my valve cover gasket by myself. I put everything back together and started the car up and then noticed that the car had a wierd idle. The car would idle between 600-1000 rpm and fluctuate in those ranges. So I let the car idle for a bit to see if it would straighten out, also checked for any oil leaks which there wasn't and there still hasn't been.
After I took the car out on a test drive and drove for about 5-10 mins, everything seemed fine no lights popped up and it was idling okay, so I went inside and called it a day. Next day I went outside and started my car up and I noticed that it had the same idle it did when I first started it up after the valve cover gasket was replaced. It was fluctuating between 600-1000 rpm. So I let it idle for a couple minutes while sitting in the car and noticed that it eventually dropped to 400 rpm and then at that moment the check engine light came on and then the rpms bounced back up. So I used my code reader to figure out that the only code that popped up was the "2D06 air mass system" code. So I did some research and cleaned my MAF sensor which didn't do the job. I also cleaned both the intake and exhaust vanos solenoids which seemed to help it but still didn't make the problem go away. I've resetted the code after each of these attempts and the engine light still has came back with the same code. So now that brings me to here, any suggestions? If needed I can record my startup and show you how my rpms fluctuate. |

I am having similar issues. Have you solved your issue yet? i cleaned my vanos soleniods, replaced a damaged oil filter cap and cage assembly. just now am i seeing "2D06" codes. but still rough idle and stalling. my next step was cleaning my MAF sensor and checking connections on it.

I had the same problem last year myself. Did everything you guys did, even bought a new OE MAF sensor and still didn't fix the issue. I've adapted to the damn car now.
