BMW M Performance Exhaust NOT legal anymore in Germany!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
For those of you who did not know yet, the BMW M Performance exhaust sales have been stopped. The exhausts are not legal in Europe and are therefore not being sold anymore in Europe. U.S. and other regions are NOT included.

The exhausts are not legal in Europe since from the coming months onwards you are not allowed to offer a button in the interior that switches to an exhaust mode that is louder than before. Also you are not allowed to make an aftermarket exhaust that is louder than the stock exhaust.

New rules in Europe which means that all systems currently on the market and which are coming cannot be sold anymore. This means that the upcoming BMW M2 M Performance exhaust will not be sold in Europe until the system is made legal or complies to rules and regulations. That means that you would buy an exhaust that is not louder and would cost you a lot. So I could see BMW says, we are not going to offer it. Too much hassle, for nothing.

Additionally, Europeans will not and cannot upgrade their exhausts to make it louder if they want to keep driving a car legally. Germany as a country is in the forefront of this now with the tough TUV rules, but other countries will follow as well. It is a shame, but the world is moving into a direction of making cars less loud and also more environmentally friendly. If you have any more information on this, then please feel free to share it below, but this is what I discussed today and the news is out in the open.

Dusted and done. If you're lucky you may still find a current MPE kit in stock somewhere. However, if it got to be backordered at BMW Germany, you'll be very likely toast.

Reading this has actually made me feel quite sad indeed
I am going to stick up for exhausts all over the world tonight and drive home with MPE open flaps/full race mode engaged!

Looking forward to Jeremy Clarkson's rant on this. I'm sure he'll be in some V-10 car at WOT while ranting.

It already stopped. You cannot get anything anymore. Make you can find one on stock somewhere.

MR
I literally asked for a quote a couple of hours ago, hoping for a response tomorrow. I am hoping I can still get it pushed through. Do the new regulations apply to just sellers or installers too? So, even if I purchase one, can I be forced to remove it to comply with new regulations? Surely not...

This is stupid...the number of people who mod their cars at all, much less something like the exhaust, is infinitesimal compared to the people who never change anything at all.

This is worthless legislation that only affects a tiny % of the population, but does so in a manner that is disproportionate in effect on that small %.

The Nanny state just can't stop....

So basically all future cars built for EU market will be quiet.

So... this makes me think about buying a second hand M2 with MPE or fit it instead of buying M2C. Any ideas?
