M2 Competition vs S55 in F8X M3/M4

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi guys,

Just starting a thread on the differences between the M2 Comp S55 vs the F8X M3/M4...

the new BMW ETK was just released.... and I've confirmed so far the turbos are the exact same as the one in the M3/M4... which makes good news for tuning.

DME is also the same MEVD172G as in the EWG N55, and S55

awesome news.
So we are looking at 510-530HP without bigger hardware changes

Can you check the EU version as well? Would be interesting to see how the OPF is implemented and the diffrence between US and EU versions for the exhaust system etc.

Secondary cats are replaced with OPF cats and special muffler for EU6D
Main cats got diffrent part numbers as well.

Didnt see any sensors there for secondary cats or muffler, so parts can be changed against US parts i guess

The Austria configurator says 223g for 6MT and 207g for DCT which sounds reasonalbe. I'm pretty sure these numbers are final - although I do not know for sure.

OPF can be removed.... I will do this.

Interessting would be, if the S55 in the M2C is the same engine like in M3/M4/CS it would be intersting if the engine control unit can be upgraded with an M4 CS Software

Thx for the info!
But if you compare it to the m3/m4 its allot lower around 204g? And the m2c has a new exhaust system and less horsepower...so yeah

Now i have to pay 5000€ for 6mt or 3500€ for dct.

I'm a bit unsure if fuel consumption numbers and taxes will get worse. Because here https://www.bmw.de/de/neufahrzeuge/m...nen-blick.html BMW is stating that numbers are according to "VO (EU) 715/2007" which means they should be measured according to NEFZ?
Definitely WLTP ("VO (EU) 2017/1151") numbers should be worse then NEFZ numbers and therefore more taxes will apply (of course depending on countries ...)?

Could anyone clarify if the provided fuel consumption numbers are NEFZ or WLTP?

Interesting. So they are not in the muffler like Lellmann said.

The Mperf exhaust must be a full exhaust, hence the two different part numbers for Europe and US.

I already bought the M2C's Red Start/Stop button and the European tail lights (Amber turn signals), after the parts number were published.

Just love how all BMWs are like LEGOs; mostly everything are interchangeable..

The M2C S55 has two intake air boxes..

Damz, a Dinan intake is going to cost like $1,500, one would assume..

More. Although there are many intakes for 1/3 the cost. But you know Dinan tax.

Only reason I would chose them is because the carbon fiber piping will match the brace. And the dealers doesn't sweat it as much. But yes, Dinan charged me $12 + $15 shipping for one airbox clip, so I am aware of the Dinan tax.

What exactly? If the opf filters are actually up steam replacing the traditional secondary cats.

This statement by M Performance Specialist Bjoern Lellmann now seems incorrect:
Quote:
Is the particulate filter the reason the muffler is so large and will USA cars also be equipped with it?

BL: Yes, the particulate filter is the reason the muffler is so large at the back. The U.S. market will get an exhaust WITHOUT the filter. The filter is ONLY for Europe. The M Performance exhaust will also get the OPF filter installed. The U.S. market will NOT get the filter on the titanium M Performance exhaust.

But to be precise, he said the filter is the reason for the big muffler, he didn‘t exactly say „the filter is inside the muffler“...

Do you have a VIN of an EU version closer to prod?

downpipes of M3/M4 - it should fit!

hello, for all which like to install stage 2 upgrade to reach 370+ kW / 500+ hp!

i checked the part numbers of M3/M4 F82/S55 at leebmann24 with M2C f87/S55 ETK, part numbers of OEM catted downpipes is the SAME

i've installed akrapovic downpipes at my N54 at e82 1 M coupe and like it a lot, mid's and muffler are stock, it works well, still oem look..

same planned for S55 at f87 M2C, mid's are with OPF, right?
midpipes are without secondary kat? right?

so what do you think, will it smell and smoke catless?
is the OPF working or going to be broken?

if you replace midpipe, is the an option with eg 2x100cell cat already?

best!
