Clicking noise in front
Anyone hear a rapid clicking noise when opening door or unlocking your car? I hear it once in a awhile and not sure where it's coming from.

Yep, the doors are locking or unlocking, always makes a clicking noise, weird.
Just kidding. BMWs make these noises, some are because the fuel pump gets primed when you unlock the door, I am not sure what the noise is when it locks beyond the actual locks but my 06 330i made weird noises when I locked and unlocked the car and every BMW I have driven since I got that car 09 has done the same. I can tell you its normal and nothing to worry about. |

Yes! I hear this every time I unlock or open the door including the trunk. I'm not a expert but I'm guessing its the fuel system moving about in anticipation for a drive. (Normal) On another note, I'm concerned about the *metallic pingy noise* that emits from the engine bay on idle, cold or hot and faint with a off set harmony. Sorry, but this post made me think that it was in relation to it. Love to find the reason for it, happy driving. I have 900 miles on a bone stock motor, redundant from day one of ownership.

Agree with others. BMWs have a lot of tech in them. Merely press the door lock unlock button and it starts a system of clicks and whirs and pumps going. I'm pretty sure at least one of them is a priming pump or lift pump for the fuel system.

Rest easy. Most modern cars do that. I've heard my Audi, Toyota, and BMW all make similar noises, sometimes just upon approaching the car with a key.
