BMW M2 CS Will Feature S55 Engine With 400 HP

Trusty BIMMERPOST source Ynguldyn has updated our future model timeline, which now includes confirmation that the M2 CS will indeed feature the M3/M4's S55 engine, but slightly detuned to 400 HP (vs 425 HP in the standard M3/M4)!

An aural preview of this came in the form of this M2 CS prototype recently spied testing on the Nurburgring sounding very much like an M3/M4 and not an M2.

In addition to the new engine, the M2 CS will feature other track focused bits such as suspension tweaks and aerodynamic parts - such as more aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler or wing. Expect a throatier exhaust and possibly optional carbon ceramic brakes as well.

The M2 CS will come to market in 2018.

I wonder what the Cost will be! Be kind of hard to drop 70-80K on a M2 unless its limited production!

I agree with this though. I don't think it is going to be more than a 10k increase. I also don't think it's going to be as special as I had hoped.

The s55 is an expensive motor. Is the CS a track oriented version of the M2? I just placed an order for an M2 and am perfectly content with the current model.

To be honest the current M2 has just enough power for me. With the Dinan Tune its perfect. Unless the turbo is upgraded its as good as it gets with the stock turbo. Move from a M5 to a M2 driving around town the M2 is way better to drive. But highway wise the F10 M5 was a Missile!!!

As bad as it sounds I don't miss the M5, M2 makes me smile just as much!

My speculation is regular m2, no lightweight carbon (roof,trunk,hood), S55, M performance exhaust and suspension, new color options for int/ext. Optional CCB.

I hope it will have bigger fender flares to accomodate wider tires.

And about the 2er Series (including the base M2):
"* F22/F23/F87 LCI is indeed next year for MY 2018. Don't expect major changes, this looks to be a very mild refresh."

Does "slightly defined" also mean easily retuned to full power? Then of course let the after market mods begin!

If it's the starting price Is in the 63k +/- range I'm 100% taking this over an m4 for my next car ,

I would understand a higher starting price if DCT is included but if this turns into GTS pricing model than I'm out hopefully CS isn't that

What it should have been from the beginning! Maybe they'll get the M side mirrors correct this time too!

I would be REALLY pissed right now had I pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago on an M2. I'm glad I "settled" for my Sakhir '17 M3 ZCP during the interim!!!
