Not power, lighter
Since we are pretty much snookered with our turbo not being able to gain much more power, how can we strip off some weight from what's really an overweight porker.
Change seats, Lighter wheels, Suspension, exhaust, Battery...? Keen to know or listen to some crazy ideas. For example, in my old exige, you could take sub visors, change some bolts, change wheels, remove some speakers, change exhaust, etc etc and save like 20kg |

How far do you wanna go? Take out the back seat, HVAC, anything related to the iDrive. Replace all glass with polycarbonates, replace panels with CF, never drive with a full tank of gas, remove all sound deadening, carpeting. And lose some weight
It's all about balancing practicality with performance.. -c

You've listed the best weight loss candidates. From there it's a lot of 0.5 lb losses and/or you start compromising the car.
CF hood and trunk may be good candidates for weight loss, if anyone is making the parts. |

Not worth the cost and effort to start stripping the porky M2 to the bone. Let BMW take care of that with a hardcore variant.
Better spend your money on a lightweight car (Alfa Romeo 4C, Lotus Cup 250, Ariel Atom, etc.).

What about battery? Voltphreaks and other shops make batteries compatible with this car that would save serious weight, although I don't know what 30-40 lbs off the rear end where the battery now sits would do to balance, traction, etc....

Yeah the battery is a beast and could be changed,. I think. Il. Look at this first.. I love you keeping my heated seats but I'm not bothered about the motorized part, I think il also look there.. It's going to be in the garage for the the winter so I might just start pulling some bits off it and at least weigh them. Also, the back seats could be an option as I cant think of the last time they were used. All this could save 100lbs

I couldn't afford another car so soon. unfortunately, I'm not sitting on a pile of cash that I can just spunk on a car that comes out that is a little lighter a tad more powerful than what I have already so, my only way forward is to make my own csl.

The biggest potential from a CSL (if it's even built) would probably be a lightweight hood and trunk, and possibly the entire interior. Your battery, susp, wheels, and exhaust will probably be on par or better with what a CSL would come with.

If you are not at your ideal body weight that would be the first place to look. Most of us can drop a few pounds easier than removing weight from the car. Having said that most of the weight in these cars are in the structures that have been added over the years to make them safer.
To get any serious weight savings you would need to strip most of the interior and begin looking for a carbon fiber drive shaft etc etc. Changing to carbon fiber wheels would probably be a great way to go but they are tremendously expensive. I like the battery suggestion, that is a reasonable upgrade, I would just be careful to find one that is compatible because BMW electrical systems are pretty specific as to how they operate so you don't want to mess with that. |

Go to the gym and become real skinny like some of those bulemic models.
Weight savings potential = (your current weight in lbs) - 110 lb (That's how much they weigh) Obviously I am only joking and Bulimia Nervosa is a serious disorder. |

I would have thought a muffler delete would be the most obvious way to save weight. Mufflers weight a lot. The most sensitive of hearing might of course need to equip themselves with a 25 gramme pair of ear protectors.
