8S4 Variable Light Decoding
Reviewing my Production order, I see this code and description on the order sheet. Searched this forum - still not sure what it is. Anyone ?

I believe that is a programing for the lighting that matches the USA standards. When you think about it they have a tremendous number of combinations of government standards and regional differences, even language. I believe that is what this is.

8S4 is the adaptive headlights. This you will notice when you drive and turn you will notice the headlights are moving with you.

From what I understand, xenon lights can be decoded on the M235 to anti-dazzle if you have the option. There was some debate as to whether the light hardware is exactly the same on US models though.

I have the high beam assistant and it works pretty well on my MY17 (turns high beam when lighting is low and turns high beam down when meeting upcoming traffic).
Is this referred to as anti-dazzle feature?

No,anti-dazzle leaves your high beams on and seperates the projected light,so that it doesn't dazzle other drivers in front of you,or oncoming fraffic approaching from the other side of the road.Apparently it works much better with the LED headlights than the Xenons.

So I noticed more up and down motion of the lights. Like they will fall behind the car in front. Never noticed it doing that before. Before I only saw left and right motions which seemed to move with the steering.

Interesting, I thought F87 was "adaptive" out of box. Guess this is a little more features?

its adaptive stock. I think this is more for the auto high beam. So High beams turn on in situations that it wouldn't before and you can see the lights adjust its distance between you and the car in-front.
