For anyone considering this option, here it is the official description from BMW NA.

The M Driver's Package is a new option for the 2017MY M2. This option includes 2 components. The first component is a new 1-day performance driving course which is tailored to BMW M and higher speed/performance driving. The second component is a software enhancement which increases the top speed limiter from 155mph to 168 mph.

Considering the one day M School is $1,550...I think the $2,500 package is too pricey for what you get.

The 1 day school is a good idea (albeit WAY too short to make a difference for someone without experience). Speed limiter increase... no biggie... not like anyone would try to get over 155mph on a public road anyway (in NA) and there are so few tracks where you could see those limits anyway. Well, let me rephrase... it's not like a normal, intelligent and responsible human being would try to get over 155mph on a public road.

Besides, seems a bit pricey for what you get.

So it's an extra $1K just to have the limiter increased?

I wonder... is it removed entirely, or just capped at 168 MPH?

For 2016, it was capped at 168, as I recall....

And if you're a BMWCCA member, you get an additional 15% off so it's an even worse deal. If it was the 2 day course, I'd be shoving fistfuls of cash at my dealer.

The old piggybacks used to be able to remove it completely so I imagine if you're in the market for a tune anyway you'll be able to get it for free and not just the 168 upgrade.

That's just what the odometer would show. It reads high compared to actual.

Theres a small gap. M/Y 2017 cars built 7/16 don't get the package or the new idrive. 8/16 built cars get it.
