Great review and 100% agree with the orange tach. Would love for a future solution to convert the tach to white like other M's.
The plastic carbon doesn't worry me too much, it's nice enough. |

I usually don't mind plastic (fake) CF as well, but I thought this one was pretty bad.

"Other highlights of the interior are the new BMW M2 trim strip with surfacing in porous carbon fibre – an extremely light and robust high-tech material" I am sorry for BMW if it really is high-tech material, it feels like very cheap plastic, even I might be wrong. I showed it to several car nuts at meets, nobody seemed to like it. So I would be very surprised if it is indeed an expensive material. I will try to get some info on that.

From BMW Blog interview w/ BMW Reps:
"Q: Will the M2 get a Performance steering wheel? Will it be the same as the M4? A: Yes, but the carbon fiber is adapted to the interior of the M2, dry carbon, which is the same trim finisher as in the stock M2." Dry Carbon Fiber A limited number of GruppeM RAMair intakes, along with certain GruppeM AEROdynamics kits, are also available in “dry” carbon fiber. The limited production of dry carbon fiber, which appears “dry” on the surface when compared to “wet” carbon fiber, is due to the near zero-tolerance manufacturing process required for the ultimate carbon fiber composite which is equal in strength, and substantially lighter, than wet carbon fiber. The manufacturing process to achieve an ideal dry carbon fiber performance product requires the carbon fiber weave to be “preimpregnated” with the ideal amount of graphite epoxy prior to the molding and curing processes. This differs from the wet carbon fiber process in which the epoxy is applied to the weave continually until the appropriate amount of surface area coverage and thickness is achieved to meet the strength and consistency requirements of the product design. The resulting product is so much lighter than wet carbon fiber because there is absolutely no excess epoxy, which accounts for the “dry” appearance of the finished dry carbon fiber component. I actually did not like it in pictures, but when I got into an M2 and drove it, I liked it fine. Pretty understated, stands out less than the wet stuff, and it's lighter |

Man I just don't believe that. It felt so crap, not only in my opinion. (Not saying that I am right or anything) I am really surprised right now. I have to write BMW and triple check that. But thank you very much for that info!

Maybe... I mean, I wouldn't have liked it, but I wouldn't have said that it's "cheap plastic". Man I am in shock haha. I have to go to a dealership tomorrow and feel that stuff one more time.

Honestly it's not like you are that far off. It does look and feel plastic-y. It was a fantastic review, I'd leave it if I was you

Gracias for the review.
The E Diff is actually a real limited slip differential(as opposed to an open diff you find in normal BMWs) but electronically controlled. And it's real dry carbon as already stated MfrGr Robin

You must have never felt real carbon then. Raw CF is not glossy.

Haha it's really funny that you say that, because I actually have! I worked with some CF factories out here in CA for some products we were devolping a few years ago!!!
I know CF isn't glossy. I never would have said "because it's not glossy, it's not CF". However, this just didn't feel like any CF I had ever seen before.
