The BMW M2 has begun production!

Leipzig, Germany. October 19, 2015

Production of the BMW M2 has begun today at the Leipzig plant! It joins the same production line as the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible, the Series Active Tourer and the BMW 1 Series 5-door.

The total production volume at the Leipzig plant is currently around 750 cars per day. i-cars are also produced here, where over 100 BMW i3's and over 20 BMW i8 are produced per day.

I believe it's because the M mirrors don't fit on the current 2 series platform.

More importantly, the car looks great in these shots!

Can't wait to have it in my driveway. Just when I thought the wait was over, the wait begins again.

I thought production starts next year?

So when and where do we expect the first delivery of M2's?

I know for the F80 M3 the first delivery was UAE. Will it be the same for the M2??

We need pictures of the other colors. There are way too many LBB M2 pictures already.

Most likely press cars. LBB is the launch color, so it's going to be by far the most prevalent to begin with

I hope we get to see a similar production schedule out of the M2, that would mean first cars to customers in February in Europe, in US by Early March.

If the launch car was any of the other colors offered, they wouldnt have had much success. It is the color that stimulates the eye/brain therefore interest to hear more. This of course applies to the other 90% who dont have a clue what M is or M2 stands for

M4? Never! I really have 0 interest in the M4. The F80 M3 on the other hand, that's another story.

I'm not looking to make a move until August 2016 at the earliest when the MY17s come out so there's still plenty of time for the M2 to convince me otherwise.

While more expensive, I think the F80 just makes a bit more sense considering the cars I already have. We'll see! I'm anxious to see the M2 reviews still.

Needs more overhead lighting at the end of the production line.....it's about 500lux to dark.

any ideas what the next generation of m2 will be refreshed? 2018? just trying to figure out what I'll get after my current lease is up.
