Interior cleaning products to retain "BMW scent"

Anyone else like the smell of BMW interiors?

What interior products are you guys using to keep the same smell?

I want to avoid a mix of different smells in the cabin from cleaning products.

Now THERE's a marketing idea out of the blue stitching.
I like the new car smell of leather and plastics, but the closest I have for it, and have had for several years is the consistent use of Griots Leather conditioner spray thoroughly rubbed in after a fine cleaning. Not completely matching new, but enough leather smell and far better than the little hanging cardboard trees from your local.

Maybe stick with unscented products as a stop gap?

For the longest time I could not decided what to use to clean and protect the inside so I just simply sprayed a high quality microfiber with distilled water to dampen and just wiped down the interior. I still have the "new car smell" and I have a 2018... :-)

Agree on Griot's. It's a strong new car smell for the first few days but lightens up and smells great.

It really does smell like strippers. Trust me.

Also a great alibi for the married guy who likes to watch a little pole dancing once in a while, but doesn't want mama to know about it. Just show her this stuff and let her know you're using it in your car. When you come home from the club at 3am, she won't have any idea whether she's just smelling your car, or an actual stripper, on your clothes. Brilliant!

Auto glym leather conditioner imo smells very very similar to the stock bmw leather smell - if not identical. Out of the bottle is smells strong, but it fades fast and leaves a bmw scented leather smell imo.

Seeing this thread reminds me of when I had my E92. I rarely ever had my windows down. Primarily used the A/C and I swear I had that new car smell for nearly 2 yrs in that thing. It was cool while it lasted...

Dude, it's incredible. If you've ever had a lap dance at a sleazy strip joint near an airport, then you KNOW the scent - they all smell exactly the same. And this stuff captures that scent PERFECTLY. Really adds an air of "class" to your interior.

Coming from Japanese cars, and specifically a new Lexus (the best new-car smell on the planet IMO), the M2 had such a weird smell. It's pretty faded now, but still smells somewhat.

The smell is really the plastics, glues and dies outgassing, so I don't think you can retain it.

That's mostly on Japanese cars, on the m2 the new car smell is primarily the leather.

Not that I'm questioning you, but the top level BMW's smell the same as the bottom level cars, and they don't have nearly the same leather. How is that?

You can question me lol, I'm not always right and I make alot of mistakes too.

I have no idea, maybe it is the way the treat the leather, the way they dye it idk for sure. But the m2 and other bmws never really had that traditional new car smell that comes from the plastics off gassing.

I only have personal experience from when I worked at Honda. I know for certain that the smells that were considered "new car smell" were in fact out-gassings. It has been many years since this, and it was thought at one time to be a health hazard, so Honda removed the possible liability but started adding the scent of the out-gas to their glues and dyes because it had become part of their new car experience. It's a bit like the BMW ASD. I have read that many car companies do this, which is why a Ford always smells like a Ford, and a Chevy a Chevy, and so on, even when the manufacturing processes have changed a million times.

How BMW does it I wouldn't know, but the bottom level car smells just like the top level car at the dealership (to me).

Interesting.

I am pretty sure the smell from bmws come from the leather, it is also not as strong as something like a honda for instance.

Hopefully there is no glitter in it.
