Dashcam Low Battery Protections Comparison

Have you wondered how much you can really trust your dashcam's low voltage shutoff feature to work and protect your battery? I did, and am fortunate enough to have enough devices on hand to test these features out across a few different dashcam models and brands.

Great video! I've always wondered if the voltage cut off works as advertised and you showed that it can vary from model to model.

Having said that, I was always a bit skeptical.. so I use an external cellink battery as my power source as I didn't want my car's battery to be the test.

I'm with you on using a cellink. That said, I can see where a lot of people would be hesitant almost spending double (or if buying more value dashcam systems more than double) the amount of the camera to get a battery backup.

Another data point. I was running the BlackVue DR900S coupled with the magic pro. This setup had the typical BMW message that states battery drain during sleep. Tested both 12 and 12.5 cutoff, no joy.

Ripped out the magic pro and installed a BlackVue battery pack. Obviously no issues since.
