FWIW I've found the midpipe alone (ie with stock muffler) drones with valves open at around that same range. Not terrible, but it's noticeable. And as you guys are mentioning the easy fix is to close valves.

Realistically during city driving I'll leave valves open and if I start hovering around a stable 3k and getting drone then I'll just upshift.

If I'm already in 6th and still stuck at 3k then it means I'm highway cruising at 80+ mph. In that scenario I'll either have music on and the road noise + music means it drowns out the drone for me. Or, otherwise without music start noticing the drone and given the highway cruise scenario not mind at all just flipping to Efficient.

So that must be it. Makes sense that after changing both midpipe and exhaust, you'd expect to get some drone. Gotta pay to play.

Started a thread in the regional section for the CT area.

I've heard of CCM and The Shop, but I was wondering if anyone has dealt with any auto shop that they recommend for exhaust/midpipe installs, etc.

Would come in handy for the tougher maintenance items in the future.

Update:
I have ordered the non resonated section to try out and see if I get that little boost in volume that I want. Hopefully in the next week or two I can compare the tones and volume of the res vs non res version.

curious what the non-res will do, especially related to drone.
I would think that drone will get worse.

My logic was that the drone is already there. Might as well get the volume I want if I'm already putting up with drone at that specific RPM range. Since the drone is only there with flaps open, I can put up with it knowing I'm already looking to make noise anyways.

Once you've decided on res vs non-res, would you consider welding?
I'm not in love with that one sleeve clamp between the AA section & Remus.

I'm almost certainly going with this system as well and will likely weld everything except the bell joint between the 2 AA sections.

Coming from an E92M3 where there were several joints in the OE exhaust, I was VERY surprised that the M2C OE setup is welded all the way through from the DPs.
Can't help but think that they did this for a reason other than ease of assembly.

Love your work on this and the write up !
Great resource for the community.

No simply because I know I'm not keeping this car forever and not welding will be easier to part out and resell.
Thank you for the kind words just looking to help people make decisions since I pretty much jumped in blind with this setup.

Thanks for the detailed writeup and video so far - has been super helpful to me. I am trying to decide between the Dinan and Remus axlebacks and currently have the resonated EL midpipe already installed. The Remus sport sounds amazing to me in the video you shared - my only concern is the volume maybe not being enough. Looking forward to hearing an update once you have tried the non-resonated section. Did you just order that directly from AA/how much did that cost?

Also, could you please record a video driving/shifting hard/open throttle if you get a chance? Appreciate everything so far - thanks again.

Came home from vacation to see my mid-pipe had arrived!!! 🙌🏼

Impeccable packaging from Active Autowerke, unlike Remus on theirs 😑.

My Remus did not come like that at all. Sorry about that.

That taping in the Remus was done by me after inspection.

Luckily the tips weren't in the same box.

I'll most likely be having CCM in Portchester, NY do the install and weld the connection points. They also said they have a pipe extender for any bent ones.

Can't wait to hear your impressions. Also interested in how the welding affects sound/drone.

It's hard to believe no one else has the Remus Sport with the non res AA EL midpipe.

Btw could you post what you had in your Remus Box so I can compare?
