Everything lines up very well and I followed a powerpoint instruction manual that was provided. It was all very well done and I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Now as for install, this does require cutting so anyone looking to do this yourselves, it will require a dremel cutting tool of sorts and expect it to not be 100% perfect as you will need to cut a little extra out in order to finagle the duct through...however if you're careful you can minimize the amount of cutting. To seal up any edges I recommend Gorilla All Weather Duct Tape to encourage all the airflow to go through the radiator. Looking at the rest of the radiator shroud sealing it definitely isn't anything to write home about from the factory so I wouldn't be overly concerned about some small gaps if you had them but obviously always encourage it to be sealed as much as possible.

As for data...that will come later when I compile some results. I haven't driven it yet but I have lots of before data that I will try my best to directly compare. The unfortunate thing is that there is actually no direct intake air temperature measurement before the turbo. The intake air temperature is actually after the intercooler so it's common to see the air temp higher than ambient due to the warm coolant running through the intercooler (and warm engine bay). This being said I feel good knowing the air is actually coming from the outside of the car rather than the engine bay.

Again I can't thank Malakas enough for making the effort on the design, initial testing along with the installation powerpoint. It's been a real pleasure doing this project.

I'm interested in this setup. I do have an OG though. Imagine the driver side would connect to the factory intake duct and the left side would just allow cool air into the engine bay? Is there something I'm overlooking?

Is there a physical break or drain holes to prevent water (rain) ingestion? Or is that not an issue?

That’s integrated with the factory duct going to the airbox which this connects to. To be clear; not an issue. I personally chose to block off that hole in the duct.

So this is a gamechanger mod.

I went with the OEM F82 snorkels instead of the fancier (and more effective) 3D printed ram-air style snorkels but when logging IATs I notice that they actually *go down* when getting on throttle as opposed to just going up with the factory M2C setup. The intakes suck in cool outside air under load and are a huge benefit to reducing timing pull.

On my stock IC setup, logging with Bootmod3, typically I would see 17-20 deg Fahrenheit ambient to IAT delta without the snorkels.
With the snorkels, I am seeing about 6-8 degree ambient temp to IAT delta *while on the gas* which is when you need it. *While I added the snorkels I also drained 2L of the coolant and added 4 oz Redline Water Wetter and deionized water and did the pump circulation 5x to get the air out as per this video

Not sure how much this helped but it is a good thing to do, regardless.

I'm betting that the 3D printed units have an even better effect. For me, for now, this part upgrade has been a proven massive success and you should see the smile I get when I see temps go DOWN when I step on the gas.

Thanks to all for this thread!

Hey Commanderwiggin, compared to the factory ducts, do you need to cut the opening more to accommodate this?

The F87 has no factory ducts. Are you alluding to installing the F80 ones?

The install video provides an idea of what needs to be trimmed.
