The DME from the M2C and M2CS is the same DME and they can accept whichever software. It's the same part numbers. So yes, you can get a CS flash on a spare DME and a tune on top of that. It's the same process as the M2C, just using original M2CS data instead. FaRKle! how long did the DME swap take?

In my opinion if an M2CS gets a tune, it should definitely be on the original CS firmware, or else it will report as an M2C firmware to dealer/diagnostic systems. (FWIW any M2C can take M2CS firmware in, even locked 2021s, BUT you cannot use this factory flash on an M2C because of factory protections. The car would simply remain in limp mode if you tried, ask me how I know this ...) Regarding M2C with a CS map, this is not a pure copy. (I suppose we'd have to discuss what a pure copy means). A pure copy would go into limp mode as above. This is an M2C tune with the power settings copied from the CS data. It is mostly a copy/paste of a couple of power request maps. This is pretty easy, but requires OBD unlock because it's not a signed/approved flash. It's just a modified tune. I write my own S55 tunes and have done a few of these for people.

Where did you get the new DME? Was it something that came as a new DME already bench unlocked and ready to be installed and flashed as a "kit"?

Yes, if you use our solution you receive the new DME already unlocked and ready to be installed. Then there's a remote session to make sure everything's initialized and all errors from the DME swap cleared.

I was saying that the hardware is the same between M2C and M2CS, it doesn't have to be from a CS. It has to be programmed with CS *software to be done right.

PS I found your video on its removal (I've yet to watch it) and you said "It took me quite a few hours for this video because of filming every step. Without that I can probably get a complete swap done in 3hrs." So if I do get a shop to pull it out for me and leave the car "unbuttoned" while the ECU is shipped off getting bench unlocked, would you say that's how many total hours they should charge me then for uninstalling it and reinstalling it? .
