*** bootmod3 - MaxCool Mode + N55 Startup Roar - New Features ***
Announcing a couple of new bootmod3 features just released
First one is ‘MaxCool mode’ - this will reduce your water coolant targets by 10 degrees Celsius and applies to ALL engines and software (ROM) versions! Moreover, for the B series engines this enables the intercooler pump to be active at all times to lower intake air temperatures! We also added GTS startup roar for the N55 EWG and PWG172X! Use the standard ‘config’ menu on each map to toggle these features on any map including custom, stock and OTS.

Great news.
Can you provide details on how the lower target coolant temps are achieved (ie revised coolant pump and / or thermostat set points, etc ) Are the lower targets...in addition to.....the lower targets already associated with Sport and Sport + mode ? Is the lower target the same in each mode (comfort, sport, etc), or does it vary mode to mode ? . Last edited by M2C AW; 10-24-2019 at 06:48 PM.. |

Probably sounds like when the car is slightly warm like it was run for a few minutes but still cool enough it does a cold start anyway.
When I start the start the car and go get gas 3 blocks away then start the car again sometimes it really roars! |

Think of it as two "phases" The initial ignition start And then the idle rpm after all cylinders are ignited. The ignition itself is set to briefly hit a higher rpm and "roar" and then drop to the idle rpm The initial ignition start is what is being modified here. If you've noticed on stock then, when the engine is cold the ignition isn't very loud but the idle RPM is pretty high and loud When the car is warm, you usually hear a much more thunderous ignition whereas the idle rpm is much lower and the car is quiet while idling |

How does max cooling mode effect the cars ability to come up to temp. Will it take longer for the oil to come up to temp be the standard mode?

Try driving yr car from a cold start in sport+ mode and you'll see it takes longer for WGDC to get 100% due longer lead-time to reach oil temp threshold.

Just got bootmod3 and will be flashing ACN stage 1 over the weekend. I live in California so it gets pretty hot. I'm assuming it's a good idea to flash with maxcool mode right? I daily the car and go on canyon runs, but I haven't tracked it yet (hopefully soon though ).

"Max cooling is a feature we’ve added lately that is designed for the coolant temperature to be 10 degrees lower. No down side to it. We’ve had many people use this feature without any issues." I do notice it takes the car longer to warm up and now I'm thinking of using it only during the vegas heat during summer time. But it does make sense for track use. Good to know it's fine if off. |
