- not a fan of the connected kidneys
- the exhaust does absolutely nothing for me, it's amazing how bad it sounds and looks - no android auto, basically inexcusable - suspension is too stiff

Funny you mentioned that, when I went into Bimmercode to do some light coding, I tried to find the option to change it to 4 or 5 blinks but could not find it. I have done this to two cars previously but no luck this time.

Most of my dislikes are minor.
- Small gas tank - Lack of a heads up display - HK sound system could be better. Bavsound speakers would help but see below.... - Could use more noise insulation. I'm torn between adding the front fender liners and some dynomat vs as is for weight/track reasons. Oh and spending tons of money on it this year for brakes and camber plates for the few times I track the car...

The option to do 5x was disabled by BMW entirely... even bimmercode can't set it up.

Lack of these few things are fine IMO
Oil gauge not dedicated Firm ride Wheels dirty Stereo I feel that if I nit pick I would sound like someone saying the Miata doesn't have real world storage For the price, I think they did enough+ Add on list for cheap I still would've loved to see a dedicated oil temp gauge and glowing 6MT gearing knob, |

My only complaint is the build quality…feels a little too cheap on the inside. My OG is approaching 4 years old and with all that plastic has come annoying creaks and rattles on roads that are less than smooth. My e90 328 had no rattles after 10 years and was built like a tank, so that comparison makes the M2 a little disappointing.
That said, next spring I plan on spending a fortune on felt tape

My biggest gripe about the car is that you can't switch off rev matching. Nailing a downshift properly is nirvana to me, and it is such a shame that you can't do that without disabling traction control. My start sequence now includes a step to turn off DSC all the time. I know you can code it out, but not satisfactorily.
I would like for the seat to move backwards on shut down, to aid egress, but I have set seat position #2 for this. (So yet another step on my start up procedure - here, to move the seat back to my preferred position). Putting the power down is... an adventure. At any revs in 2nd gear, if I plant it, the back end will cut loose, no matter what the road surface/temperature. That's just weird. Overall, though, I LOVE THIS CAR. It provides massive driver satisfaction (dare I say it, it's more enjoyable to drive in a pure sense than my other car, at 1/5 the price!!!)

See that's better, shouldn't the cliche Bimmer option be selecting the turn signal gets you zero clicks?

I agree on this. Very important for a car that will be driven hard and on track. I have my car set to always display the oil temp in the center screen. I could care less about watching the mileage tick away.

My M2C is going to see a decent amount of time on the track while still being a comfortable street car - so my dislikes are based on dual duty function. I will say that I was extremely impressed with the car in stock form on the track though - very fun to drive and punches above it's weight class. My gripes are relatively minor too - and the beauty is they can for the most part all be addressed. This platform is so good out of the box but really has the potential to be great.
Gauges - no dedicated temp gauges - really do not understand this Seats - comp seats are awful on the track. The headrest is angled too far forward for comfortable helmet positioning and lack of harness slots eliminates the Schroth QFP as a simple and very effective add on. But I do like them on the street. 2NH Brakes - not being able to run 18" wheels Lag - I bit more lag than I like but I can be honest here and say I'm spoiled by S65's on the track - I think this might be more of a me thing than a S55 thing Cooling - for the most part did well but still would have to do at least one cool down lap mid session after getting a high temp warning. DCT was also getting a bit laggy. Certainly wasn't anywhere near Z06 bad and it was extremely hot (pushing 100* ambient) - but still will need to be addressed as more pace potential is added to the car Interior - could have been a bit nicer from the factory but definitely serviceable Weight - can definitely feel the weight on the track a bit. Lighter would have been nice but yeah you can say this about pretty much every platform. Really is an awesome car from the factory though. My dislikes are pretty minor in my opinion - just some areas of improvement that would really take this platform to the next level.

1. No Android Auto.
2. I spend $14.50 on average for gas on my daily. Expected but also ludicrous coming from a $4.00 cost of commute from my previous car. Fillups happen 3 times a week. Its incredibly annoying. This goes along with the small gas tank complaint. 3. Wireless charger fits almost non of anyone's phones I know, including mine. 4. Putting the USB slots pointing up was just dumb, anytime you're using them you can't really close any of the lids/covers to the areas where they are located. Every other car I've driven only points the usb slots up when there is plenty of head clearance for plugged in devices... M2... nope. 5. Reverse gate sucks hard. 6. Unsolvable rear suspension/frame noises going over uneven roads when frame flexes. 7. Brake dust. Relatively solvable by new pads if one desires with a hit to braking performance. 8. Largely unprotected front radiators due to large gaps between stock grills, impossible to clean out efficienty and prone to damage. I've solved this with custom DIY. 9. Interior not given ample room for seats between center console and causes premature wear on seats. Solvable by setting the bolsters to their tightest setting (wouldn't work for anyone slightly overweight). 10. No true shift indicator unless you want to upgrade to the Mperf. steering wheel. This feature would help my wife immensely. I'll stop at 10. With all that said, the car is still an absolute dream to drive. Last edited by .Slug; 09-24-2021 at 09:46 AM.. |

You hit most of my annoyances. Small tank, uncomfortable over a long haul, etc…. I would add the funky CDV that still gives me trouble. It would be nice to have some of the comforts like heads up, but my sunglasses are polarized so I can’t see those anyway. The only other things that really bothers me is how exposed the radiators are. Not much protection on the front end, and the oil cooler facing down are not comforting. All that said, it’s a fantastic car and none of those little bags will prevent me from keeping it for a long time.

Hah, I had a friend buy an E90 M3 about five years ago. I remember her saying "the first thing i did was code it for 4 blinks instead of 3 on the blinker tap. I don't want to be the typical BMW driver under-utilizing their blinkers."

I’ll start by saying the great news is that most all of my complaints are fairly easily remedied.
1. Seat bottom is not enjoyable for extended driving times and it also lacks a thigh extender 2. Tiny gas tank 3. The udder 4. Exhaust sound needs to be deeper 5. MT 1-2 shifts are hard to get smooth 6. Brake dust 7. Brake dust 8. Wheels and cleaning the brake dust. Definitely planning to buy 763s in black |

Remedies for all .Slug
1. No Android Auto. I don't know what that is. 'i' or die 2. I spend $14.50 on average for gas on my daily. Expected but also ludicrous coming from a $4.00 cost of commute from my previous car. Fillups happen 3 times a week. Its incredibly annoying. This goes along with the small gas tank complaint. Get a new job 3. Wireless charger fits almost non of anyone's phones I know, including mine. Exec pack is for suckers 4. Putting the USB slots pointing up was just dumb, anytime you're using them you can't really close any of the lids/covers to the areas where they are located. Every other car I've driven only points the usb slots up when there is plenty of head clearance for plugged in devices... M2... nope. Would you rather they point down? 5. Reverse gate sucks hard. Reverse is for the French. 'Merica is go forward only! 6. Unsolvable rear suspension/frame noises going over uneven roads when frame flexes. Move and get a new house. May help #2 7. Brake dust. Relatively solvable by new pads if one desires with a hit to braking performance. See #5, swap reverse for braking 8. Largely unprotected front radiators due to large gaps between stock grills, impossible to clean out efficienty and prone to damage. I've solved this with custom DIY. DIY is good and satisfying 9. Interior not given ample room for seats between center console and causes premature wear on seats. Solvable by setting the bolsters to their tightest setting (wouldn't work for anyone slightly overweight). Tuck in your elbows and lay off the pies fatty 10. No true shift indicator unless you want to upgrade to the Mperf. steering wheel. This feature would help my wife immensely. Get a new wife I'll stop at 10. With all that said, the car is still an absolute dream to drive. I kid I kid of course! And I would not joke about weight or wives if other posts hadn't indicated those are in check ;-) And for the record I am an Android person as well.
