Are there things you dislike about your M2C?

Just wondering. Such an amazing car but what don't you like about it?

Small fuel tank?
Lack of covered storage (coming from a Cayman, i.e. doors)?
Wheels (PITA to clean)?
Sound of Exhaust (according to some)?
Seat bottom bolster (not the most comfortable for highway driving)?

What say you?

I wish the wheels were a solid color, I've seen them powder coated or painted before and they look so much better.

Better break pad compound so they didn't create soooooo much dust.

I wish it had a head-up display. That and the small tank are the only things. Very minor comparatively!

Girls always ask me to take them to the strip club when I pick it up from the valet. Obviously this car looks too much like an Uber or Lyft ride.

The non adjustable headrest because when you're wearing a helmet it pushes your head forward and you can't run your harness belts through it either.

Yes-

Extremely bad brake dust.
Extremely poor suspension rebound dampening.

-would prefer to run 18in wheels
-Excessive brake dust and noise
-wheel/finder gap is a bit much
-small full tank
-manual shifter feels rubbery
-exhaust pops and bangs are to fake/boy racer for my taste…hate to void a warranty for minor changes
-armrest rubs seat/excessive wear
-wish exhaust setting was separate from throttle
-would love stock camber adjustments

Mostly minor things, but a lot of them are expensive to correct somewhat small changes so likely won't get done…

Bimmercode and/or Bimmerlink take care of that

I’m about to hit 1000 miles so it’s still pretty new to me. Nothing I truly dislike so far, but I’m “neutral” on the small gas tank, vague shifter, and overly intricate wheel design.

Sure, but I'm under the impression that will void the warranty… something I will do if I keep the car long term for sure.

I wish the seatbelt height was adjustable. The edge of the belt kinda digs into my neck.

Less overboosted and inconsistent feeling brake pedal. Less clunky 1->2 shift. Wish there was independent control of throttle sensitivity, exhaust sound, and whatever else Sport Plus controls.

Not really. No car is perfect, but for my needs as a DD at this point in my life I am very happy. The small gas tank is not an issue for me with my commute. I like that the car doesn't have too much tech/nannies. I don't really care that the wireless phone charger is worthless, there is no heads-up display, etc.

I'm a glass half-full person, but I will also say this - I've perfected my wheel cleaning technique to 5 minutes per wheel on the M2C, similar to my other cars!

Yup - poor ability to put power down, weight, giant udder, oil cooler location. Other than that it’s a super fun car.

Almost 3 years of ownership.

Just like 1M and OG M2:
-Fuel tank too small
-Sat Nav not updating, and if so, still slow and silly compared to Waze/Google maps on iPhone
-Bumpy ride on medieval streets etc

That's about it.

Cheers
Robin

The blank switch should be an independent on/off switch for the rev matching.

Owned the car for 4 months. There's pros and cons to every car. So let me do a quick list format review.

What I love about the car:
  1. The looks, specially after adding frozen gold 763 M. Has to be one of the best looking cars out there. The proportions are just right, the size is just right, and it's fantastic looking in a mature way.
  2. Practicality, this is a sports car that you can get groceries with. I have a rear facing child seat that works fine. It's probably got the best rear seats out of any two door car i've seen.
  3. Manual transmission, and I do like the rev matching
  4. It's just fun, I look for excuses to drive. 1700 miles in a month should say something

What I like:
  1. Handling, it's a blast in the twisties
  2. it's not full of gimmicks, just get in and drive
  3. The price is just right, try getting a Porsche Cayman S and you'll be in six figures. Free maintenance for 3 years with bmw and I got 0.9% APR.
  4. it attracts the right kind of attention, car enthusiasts will notice it. Normal people won't bother you. I can drive it to work without getting noticed.
  5. The control: efficient vs sport vs sport+, want to be mature switch to efficient. Want to be a hooligan go sport plus and hear the burbles and pops
  6. It's unique, I haven't found anyone really who has this in the area I live in. A few N55 M2s, but I haven't seen a single M2 comp here.

What I'm neutral about:
  1. ECU locked for new M2s, not a big deal for me because I'm not planning on a tune
  2. 1st to 2nd gear shift takes some getting used to, isn't the smoothest
  3. suspension is okay, it's on the stiff side but tolerable. Aftermarket suspension is always an option, but for my purposes I don't have a need to change it yet. Adjustable dampers would have been great, but you have to step up to CS for that which is way over priced
  4. The fact that you have to modify certain things, the car is priced just right. If you keep pouring money into it, it's not worth the price. See thread here for more details: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1853132

What I dislike:
  1. small gas tank, will have to visit gas station often
  2. Lot of brake dust, I wash it twice a week to keep the wheels looking clean. In my opinion ceramic on wheels is a MUST. Oh and I have 763s, 788s must be a nightmare
  3. Rocker panels need PPF, so I recommend getting PPF on front and rocker panels. Rocks will hit them often.
  4. Brake squeal, normal and harmless...happens on all M cars. But can still be embarrassing
  5. Interior could be slightly better, I could have went g80 M3 but I picked this. I am jealous of the interior the g80 M3 has and probably what the new g87 m2 will have
  6. Highway RPM a bit high even in 6th gear
  7. Road/tire/wind noise interior is pretty loud
  8. Sound system/radio is meh, I don't really use it anyway.
  9. Wireless charger doesn't actually fit most modern smart phones unless you have a tiny phone, basically useless.
  10. Performance, I know people say it's fast but that's all on your frame of reference. For the price of this car you can get much faster cars. Plus after being in other M cars, AMGs, camaro ZL1, GT500, teslas...it feels underwhelming performance wise. I'm talking about how hard it pulls/accelerates. It's enough for street driving, but not like it will push you back in your seat and scare you. This was one of the reasons I sold it.

What I hate:
  1. The sound! The stock exhaust sounds like a lawn mower, not like a sports car. Also way too quiet. I tried to fix this with an aftermarket but I feel like I created other issues. See this post here for details. Another reason I sold it, sound is so important as it's part of the theatrical experience. https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1843852
  2. Low hanging stock muffler. But fixed with aftermarket exhaust system, still too bad you have to do mods to fix it.
  3. Speed is overstated by ~2 mph. Check this with multiple GPS units, the speed it displays is always 2 mph faster than the speed the car is actually going
  4. ASD, I know I can code this out...but I need to figure this out asap, very frustrating

Conclusion: This was the only car I could buy new under 70k that could do everything I needed it to do. I wanted a compact sized sporty car that could be a daily driver. I also didn't want a car that attracts too much unwanted attention, wanted to park this at work without people noticing it. I think the M2 accomplished all that. It's worth it at 60,000 ish USD new. But if you can stretch your budget a bit more and are willing to sacrifice some practicality, I personally think there's better options (even though they aren't as well rounded)

Another issue was that in total I've spent about $80,000 when you factor in PPF, ceramic, M performance carbon bits, exhaust, 763 wheels, etc. At that price it was too much for what it is. And I was still working on making this car sound good, so I would give the car a 7/10. But if you get the sound right it would be 8.5/10 from me. I think what one rates this car will really depend on what they are looking for out of a car. Really think about what you want. If you want the fastest car there's other options, if you want the best interior there's other options, if you want the best handling there's other options. You can think of the M2 as a jack of all trades, but master of none.

It's minor, but 3 blinks is simply not enough for the one-touch indicator.
