What modifications have you made to your M2 that have been totally worth the time, money, and effort?
Also what have to tried that hasn't met your desires, and you wouldn't do a second time around? |

Bimmercode! Program the fake sound out, fold in mirrors and more.
Sound deadening strips on forward door gap. Keeps the road noise down. Carbon fiber wheel well pebble deflector flaps. Small and indiscreet but cuts down on chips. New Richland forged wheels. Cuts the cleaning to minutes. |

In addition to the above, the Auto Solutions short shifter really makes the 6mt feel much better.

Bimmercode (ASD delete, lawyer screen delete on iDrive, radio off when door opens), cocomats f&r, plus later added the trunk mat, and Ebay clutch stop. And I'm done. For relative peanuts, the car is exactly where I want it to be.

If I only was able to make one change to the car:
1) ASD delete - I used the Technic PnP harness but Bimmercode works too Other: 2) Inner quarter panel sound deadening pieces (behind the interior panel) Left - 41 00 7 294 289 Right - 41 00 7 294 290 Clips - 51 48 9 119 216 (x 12) 3) Fender to body seal (at rear of fender in front of door hinges) Left - 51 48 7 300 693 Right - 51 48 7 300 694 4) Oil cooler guard Pick your pleasure: Turner or Fall Line Motorsports both make a nice product. I chose the Fall Line piece due to its more substantial construction and worry less about a piece of debris causing trouble. 5) Lower dust brake pads This one might be a bit controversial but I made the change to Posi-Quiet semi-metallic pads and have never looked back. Much lower dust while keeping good pedal feel. Not for the track. |

None of my upgrades are cosmetic. While I would like to add some carbon fiber bits (they do look cool), when having to figure out where it's more important to spend my money, I decided the more important thing is how the car feels and sounds as opposed to how it looks.
Carbahn Stage 1 tune- this is absolutely the most satisfying upgrade! I wanted a tune with a warranty, and while I have yet to use it, I does give me confidence to drive the car hard without too much worry. Also, I'm not a fan of catless downpipes for non-competition (be a good human) BMW M Performance Electronic Steering wheel- This is debatable for most people, but is absolutely one of my favorite upgrades! Exhaust is a personal choice, but I didn't like the way the stock exhaust looked or sounded. I went Active Autowerke EL mid-pipe with signature exhaust and absolutely love it! Autosolutions short shift kit and Ultimate Clutch Pedal. Not absolutely necessary, but does make the car a lot better. I also felt like the suspension kind of sucked stock, mostly bc it is too stiff/harsh without enough rebound damping (the car will bounce over uneven surfaces) This is my set-up: Ohlins Road and Track coilovers, Dinan Tension strut ball joint, Dinan Rear toe link and Forward lower trailing link, H&R Front sway bar, Turner Motorsports front and rear adjustable sway bar links, Ground Control adjustable front camber plates Camber- Front: -2.5 degrees Rear: -2.2 degrees Corner balanced If I had a dedicated track car, I would remove the adjustable sway bar links bc they make a lot of noise... Wheels/tires: Apex EC-7 dedicated track wheels with Toyo R888Rs: 265/30/19 front, 295/30/19 rear |

ASD delete and folding mirrors. KevinC post convinced me to get the Cocomats a while back, and they are one of my favorite purchases. Classy, discreet, and are fairly robust. I think they cut back a bit on road noise. Get lots of compliments on them too

For a 6MT I believe the mod(s) that make the most dramatic change are a new shifter and CDV removal. On my OG M2 I felt like shifting felt really numb - just kind of like something you have to do to drive the car. Not good, not bad - just there. We installed a CAE shifter and removed the CDV and it really made a huge difference. Such a more enjoyable experience let alone the obvious benefits. The shifter really shines on the track but I enjoy it just as much on the street. Also upgraded to an alcantara DTM wheel - absolutely love that as well.

Mild/moderate tune and some custom coding (albeit with E-sys instead of bimmercode) are always winners.

Forgot one more OEM+ item - warning triangle in the trunk. The parts are cheap and it's a legit safety item, so no-brainer for me.
I have extra mounting screws if anyone decides to buy the triangle & bracket - if you do, PM me and I'll send you a pair of screws, gratis. I had to buy 10, have given one pair away, so I have 3 pairs left.
