I don't know if it's more time/money as a concern, it's more so about finding the right people to buy one for their M2/M2C. This is not a new company launching a new product, it's mainly to get this option for the M2/C fam.

As for the rotation, I'm not an expert here but I believe it's more so less weight rotating/less to stress when spinning.

Also, I had ZERO issues on my e92M.

Sorry, I mean if people are worried about the project falling through and getting their money back, kickstarter would have the policies in place to protect everyone.

Wha? Why would it be spining faster? The gear ratio between the engine and diff is is not changed at all by the CF drive shaft. So at 60mph itll spin just as fast as OEM (and over the whole speed range).

It will accelerate faster due to the mass being lower (f=ma) but that is not an issue and the same as a tune (in this case you increase the force while the mass remains the same).

The sensors are faster than the engine/car by far, otherwise your whole control system would get screwy.

Yes, I should have said accelerate. I guess the more that I think about it, since the sensors are not he wheels it probably doesn't matter. I was thinking since you can transition more quickly would that mess w/the calculated values and for example the amount of brake applied.

Its a dynamic system that calcs wheel acceleration. Changing to the CF driveshaft will increase this acceleration, however never in a million years to a point that it is out of bounds and messes up the control system.

This isnt an early 90s car, processing power is cheap and control systems do not need to be built around a look up table. If 1000whp+ S55 cars dont have this issue then adding a CF driveshaft wont bring it up either.

Just curious, I don’t have an OPF car but will the driveshaft fit cars that have OPFs? That was the original reason the M3 and M4 lost the CF driveshaft and went back to steel.

I do not have an answer for you on this. Based on research using RealOEM, I found the same part numbers for the DS for both the M2/M2C. When I have time I can see what I find in researching for OPF equipped M2/M2C.

I thought it was a recall because the OEM CF shaft itself was poorly made.

Could be both, but the OPFs are pretty big. There are number of articles that point toward the real reason being the necessity to fit OPFs.

I did some more research and found this image. My assumption is that it's the same per this and should be fine with OPFs. I mean we're talking about the driveshaft that is tucked underneath the heat covers and the CF version won't be hanging any lower or going to be any different in physical size. If anything there will be less a center joint that holds the two piece oem DS.
