Bumping this thread as a new owner getting used to the mpgs and paying about $15.00 day in gas...

Today was not bad. My trip to work this morning in mild So. Cal. traffic in Orange County. The trip has about 4 miles of the 17 in city, rest hwy with some traffic/slowing near the tail end. I stay in efficient mode on fwy and feather the gas pedal most of the time. I'm driving manual transmission.

My typical weekly average has been 21.1 mpg, mostly fwy. Typically I'll put the car into Sport+ right after exiting the fwy to get my fun miles in. But today I wanted to see what would happen if I really focused in on saving gas. Happy with a 33.9 mpg outcome after 17.2 miles of driving.

Did two 120 mile trips with my wife and another with the kids and 28-29 is the best I can squeeze out of this car with a light foot and 72-73 mph on the highway

I usually get 18-19 mpg.

It is pretty amazing that a car like the M2C with over 400hp can still get almost 30 mpg on a trip.

I completely agree but I want to emphasize how light a foot I had

I agree, I've been able to get 30+ mpg through a whole tank. However it was through the flat desert on a cool day with the AC off and driving about 70-75 mph.

~22mpg after 4k+ miles.
I meant to reset for my boring I5 journey, but forgot, would have been interesting to see what a bunch of 55-85 driving would have gotten me.

I only had to make one more stop for petrol (on what is a 900 mile trip) vs my Elantra Sport (same size tank) which easily averages in the 30s for motorway trips. So it didn't seem that bad really.

Recently took a nice mountain drive, surprised to get about 28 mpg. Normally I’m closer to 22-23, mostly city driving.

Fukk lightfoot and the mileage, I drive it like I stole it the first day. Lately, I've been averaging about 21, but this tankful is only 17 with smiles of miles.

This is my usual commute to work. The car doesn't see over 3k RPM until the oil is up to temp. I'd say 60 to70% highway, and the rest is 40 mph roads.

The car does see Sport and Sport+ mode once oil temp is up. I make sure I'm not on the throttle when I see a red light coming up, but I can assure you I don't drive it like a complete granny. Super impressed as I was expecting far worse. As KevinM mentioned, I get about 19MPG in the Z4MR in the same condition. Granted this is not manual calculation, but you still get the idea.

2019 M2C, 6MT, currently at 8100. 93 Octane only from QT (Top Tier), tires properly inflated to spec.

Mine seems to be in alignment with the EPA numbers on the window sticker. Window sticker says 18 city, 24 highway, and 20 combined. After 2200 miles, mine has averaged 21.5 overall. Since the last fill up it is showing 20.0 @ 26.6 mph. Driving around town in 1st to 4th gear with stop signs and speed limits up to 35 mph will usually be 18-19 mpg. It is generally < 20 mpg when my average speed is < 25 mph.

My 2019 DCT, 15k miles, is averaging 21.8 primarily local drives with 95% under 5 miles. Drove once to Sacramento and 30 mpg @ 75 mph. I'm rather pleases after coming from 3 M5's and their low gas mileage.

I went in the garage to get something, glanced at my M2C, and it probably already dropped 10MPG.

In all seriousness, I rarely even look at MPG.

I got between 22-25MPG across my M2Cs (2 DCT, 1 6MT).

It matters because the tank is so small. Filling up every 250 miles or so after coming out of higher Series cars that typically do closer to 400 per tank is a (minor) chore.

Buying an M2 and worrying about gas mileage or the price of fuel is like buying an F250 and worrying about gas mileage (I know, I'm on another forum where this is actually discussed). When you buy an M2, you know it takes premium fuel and that you won't be able to keep your foot out of it. After all, that is why you purchased an ///M car! 😀

This is an interesting thread to read how you all are driving your cars and how much time you spend tracking fuel economy. But, I haven’t even once concerned myself with MPG and never will with this car. It’s for enjoyment only. Even if you are daily driving it who cares. This is about fun not saving dinosaur juice. Carry on my MPG obsessed brothers!!

MPG for the M2C is one of those things that doesn't matter until it does. It's a part of the ownership equation along with tires and insurance, yet in the M2C it can be more reasonable than other car choices.

But take for example a 1000 mile trip.
Last year in the M550i = 1000 miles / 28 mpg * $3 gas = $107
This year in my X3M = 1000 / 22 * $4 = $180. Almost double the fuel cost for the same trip.

PS: Two weeks ago, on track I spent $100 @ $4.50/gal for Ethanol free 93 for 2 days of track driving. Plus the $45 spent on the first tank.
