2021 M2C Fullscreen carplay
Hello,
I've seen a few of you who recently got M2C delivery have fullscreen carplays and navigating other threads, some seem to have found a way to unlock it through some upgrade done by BMW. I picked up my car in January 2021 and just came back from a service where I asked about this upgrade - the SA told me it wasn't possible as the hardware is incompatible. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't do it. So I decided to write to "BMW Genius" who told me this: Quote:
Was anyone in a similar situation and got it working? Any suggestions? Thanks! |

It's sad indeed when both an SA and a "BMW Genius" both provide the same 100% inaccurate answer to a simple question.
I don't know when the cutoff date was, but my car was built in mid-March of this year and has full-screen CarPlay from the factory. From what I've gathered from other threads, everyone from slightly before my build date to the end of the run also received it. As others have said, Kubax can hook you up. But I don't believe for a millisecond that BMW couldn't provide the update - if they just knew it existed.

My car is from 2018 and I activated it via easybimmercoding (and ENET Cable).
BMW did update my NBTEvo with the latest connected drive as the car was for a motor firmware update (now with the connected services active on app to check the fuel level, the status of the doors etc). But they mentionned me it was not possible to code carplay because my car didn't support it. So i tried it and it worked, i only had to buy an wifi antenna on amazon and install it myself and everything is working like a charm The explanation if possible (extract is below also) : Note that Full Screen will ONLY be active on cars with version: NBTevo_N or NBTevo_O (USB Activation) NBTevo_P, NBTevo_Q, NBTevo_R, NBTEvo_S, NBTEvo_U, NBTEvo_V, NBTEvo_W, NBTEvo_X (ENET Activation) Checking NBTevo version is easy: Go to "Navigation" -> Choose "Map" -> Press Options button -> Select "Navigation settings" -> Scroll down to "Position and version" -> Select "Version information" Last edited by cvitt; 09-22-2021 at 03:13 AM.. |

My car was built the first day or two of March and came with full screen CarPlay, when I asked my CA about she said they had been coming like that.

My 2021 was one of the first built in late June, 2020 (delivered 9/11/20 at Performance Center), and it does not have full-screen CarPlay. I kind of like it like that since I can still use the right side split screen view for media, etc. Do those of you with full-screen have the option for split screen view, or is it full-screen only?

Thank you everyone for the helpful responses. I tried poking BMW a bit more, but they just don't want to help.
So I'm getting the setup to flash it with bimmer-remote, will report back. I've also gathered my various versions installed: IStep F020-20-07-525 NBTevo_V20153I Tel TB-007.020.010 Media MB-007.020.010 |

Another shout out to kubax86 / Bimmer-Remote. The process is unbelievably simple, so long as you have a Windows laptop to use.

Same, in case anyone was worried about this. I've had full screen carplay enabled for many months now and I've never once had an issue.
