Few (noob) questions:
1. What's the difference between Wagner EVO Competition I & II apart from bigger capacity/diameter? 2. Let's assume you add one or the other to a stock car and to a modified car. Any cons for using Comp II in a stock car? More lag or something? 3. Do you need to change the charge pipe from turbo to IC or from IC to TB? |

1- EVO II is 1" wider 2- EVO II would be too big for a stock car and might cause some turbo lag. 3- We recommended the charge pipe from FMIC to TB

I just want to echo #3. I had asked Mike the same question. Finished my install. Let me be clear. The stock charge pipe is an unbelievable joke. There is this incredibly poorly manufactured seam just before the TB mount. It is crazy that this thing left the factory like that on such an expensive car. Tune or no tune I think you absolutely need to change it.

EVO I competition is the lightest intercooler you can find.

The weight you shave from going with a HFC or a downpipe is easily enough to justify going with a larger intercooler that weighs a bit more. A heat exchanger relies on surface area both internally and externally in order to perform well and unfortunately that requires a bit of extra weight. The performance gain from the cooler intake temps significantly outweighs the extra 5-6 lbs

note: one of the reasons I went the Dinan route is the hope it will not void my warranty.

Charge pipe will not void the warranty since it does not add any stress on stock components. Charge pipes are equal as long as you get a trusted brand. Its a matter of brand preference and in some cases charge pipe finish.

Indeed, there are no real guarantees but I have read on this forum and talked it over with service managers, Dinan staff and the shop that installs a whole lot of Dinan equipment in the Bay Area...and it sounds like most things would be covered either by BMW or Dinan...at this point it is only my Fabspeed down pipe that would mean any problems with the oxygenators will be on me.

BMW and Dinan are two separate entities and there is absolutely no guarantee that a Dinan part will be warranty friendly with BMW. Dinan does nothing more than offer their assistance with the enforcement of the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act in the case that your service advisor tries to pawn off your new intercooler upgrade as the reason for your rear speaker failure.
BMW NA as well as any other brand of car sold in the US can only void your warranty if the modification is directly related to the component failure. The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act was enacted to protect our rights to repair and modify our cars |

I currently have the CSF intake, Fabspeed Sportcat DP, and BM3 Stage 1. I'm looking to add an intercooler so I can run Stage 2. Which IC would you recommend? And which pipes to pair with?
