BSM M2C Silver 788M wheels vs. Black 437M wheels
Hey guys,
I'm trying to finalize and decide on my order, and I'm having trouble deciding between these two wheel options: Silver 788M wheels vs. Black 437M wheels As a Canadian car, my M2C comes with the bigger silver brakes as standard. If anyone has any photos of a BSM M2C in either, that'd be helpful! I was also wondering if there's any major weight/size differences that'd affect performance. Silver 788M wheels Pros: - These are the "Competition" wheels - Silver contrasts better with black - Are they lighter/better sized? Cons: - Harder to clean - Hide the brakes - Not a huge fan of the shape Black 437M wheels Pros: - These show off the brakes better - Easier to clean - Feels a bit more aggressive? - Unique to not have the Comp wheels? Cons: - Car will look like a regular M2 from far (I don't really care) - I don't love these wheels either - Less contrast - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Overall I think I'll inevitably be using these with winter tires, and will get a set of summer wheels/tires after the first year, so perhaps it's not that big of a dilemma. I guess there's always a chance I find cheaper wheels for the winter and DO keep these for summer, since this is a lease and I may trade the car in for a G80 M3 in ~2 years. These are the only shots I could really find online, so if anyone has anymore that'd be helpful!

Personally, I'd go with the 437m set for now, and eventually use them for your winter wheels and upgrade to 763m M Performance wheels down the road a bit, would look great with your BSM.

I think the 437m's look a bit dated. The 788's are a little busy but im trying to convince myself they are modern versions of csl wheels lol. The silver 788's look better for this car imo.

HRE have a similar one, then there's all the knock offs. honestly this style of wheel is easily at the top level of desirability. Also they weigh 9kgs.... which is amazing.

Obviously these are all personal opinions based on different tastes... that said, I'll give you mine!
I have a 2020 HS M2C coming in a few weeks. I traded my 2017 M2 which has the 437M wheels. I actually have the dealer swapping the wheels so that I can keep my 437s. I prefer them that much. Aside from personal preference, consider this. The M2C wheels seem to say "glamor, luxury, fancy-schmancy", where as the 437Ms seem to say "sporty, aggressive, racey". And the 437s on the black look more in character with the body color... I think.

The 788ms are heavier. I think its around 2lbs per wheel. Cleaning them is not that difficult. The spokes have just enough space between them to clean them easily.
Im amongst the small minority who actually think that the 788ms look good. In my opinion, these suit much better than the 437s on a BSM M2C. And the 437s do look dated now. Im attaching a few pictures of my car with black 788ms. |

I ordered the BSM with bi-color wheels for contrast.
They had a '19 on the floor that was BSM with the black 763s and I thought it looked great because the simple design with few thin spokes allowed the silver of the brakes to show through more. |

763Ms, the real M Competition wheel. You'll save 18 lbs. +/- a few ounces (collectively) over the 788s. The rotational mass weight loss is enough that you'll feel it. Super easy to clean as well. I love them on my HS and will look great on any color. They are the same width and offset as the 788s.
If choosing between the 788s and 437s, 788s all the way as the latter look dated to me, but that's me. Last edited by devo; 03-15-2019 at 01:18 PM.. |

The aero and the gold brakes really make all the difference. I'm still a bit undecided, and at the end of the day these will hopefully just be my winter wheels. Anyone know how much the 763M wheels cost in Canada? Debating those vs. aftermarket. I'm leaning towards something bronze or gold, but I'm not crazy about the frozen gold colour on the BMW 763M.

I like the 788M wheels and, like others, think the 473Ms look a little dated. See the attached picture - yes they hide the brakes somewhat, but I've got dark AP Racing calipers fitted so it's not like they "pop" all that much anyway. I also used the Karcher pressure washer on them today and they weren't all that difficult to clean 👍🏻
I do have some 763M wheels with Cup 2s sitting in the house, which I'll eventually use for track days this year (and at some point I'll most likely use the 763Ms as daily's and get rid of the 788Ms for some 18" track wheels). 763Ms are much nicer than the 788Ms in my opinion, but I appreciate you aren't asking about these wheels. P.S. ride height is sitting 25mm lower than that now Bilsteins are fitted! 😁

I like silver 788s from an angle. Black 788s if straight on view. Cant go wrong with 437s. 763M I would need to get powder coated orbit gray or a little lighter.

I'm in the minority too. Personally prefer the 788Ms which look more like my old 1M 357M wheels and agree the 437M look little dated. Plus they are available on all M2, M3 and M4 so a bit too common for my liking.
Guess it wont be long before the 788M are common given the number of Competitions is also on the increase. If the 788M in silver are too bright and the black 763M too dark, I'd go for the bi-colour "jet black" 788M like I've put on my M2 LCI. |

Thanks mate. Having the APs front and rear with Ferodos = immense stopping power. I cannot wait to get the best out of them on track! My other car is pearly white and it's just as dirty as yours right now Karl

I wonder if Style 359's from the E92 M3 ZCP would fit.
Anyone done that?

Here in NLD I had same dilemma when ordering my M2C, slated for April build. Although I'm ordering HS, I have chosen 437m based on weight saving and my visual preference (more concave).
Ironically enough I chose the 513m over the 437m back in 2015 on the F80, for the same reasons. I still have a set of 513m wheels and I'm lamenting the fact they won't fit over the bigger brakes (for winter wheels). Pics for reference (not my M2 but same color and wheels ordered...didn't order sunroof) |
