Scraped the Bottom of My M2
This morning I was pulling into a parking spot. I didn't notice the ground sloped downwards toward the driver's side making the parking block higher relative to the driver side. I wasn't trying to pull in over the parking block but accintally did. I heard a scraping noise. Sure enough I scraped the bottom under the front on the driver side. You can't see it unless you look under the car. I just want to kick myself.

Do you know if you damaged anything? You took out some warranty packages, any luck with those covering anything?
This car is really low, I avoid speed bumps, but something like you are talking about that could get me as well. So thanks for sharing BTW. It sucks, sorry, I hope its just scrapes on the pan. |

I've been driving a lowered RS6 for years......I find the M2 has the ground clearance of a raised pickup truck in comparison. LOL.
It sucks when you hit bottom, never sure if it's just a cosmetic scrape or something potentially mechanical. hope it's ok! Mike

It just scraped under the front bumper on the paint. I think it's only cosmetic and can only be seen from under the car.

Ok got it.
Gezz, I almost did that not knowing how low that front bumper is. I pulled into a parking spot with the concrete curb in the front and I just thought to myself that's good enough, then I looked at how close I was and how low the car was, it would have done the same thing that you did. Probably a matter of time until I do it. |

You'll probably do it again. Let it go and enjoy the car.

Drive a car enough and your bound to have little issues like this. I have a small scrape under the front bumper cover from backing out of my driveway too quickly which, didn't even know until the car was put on a lift for Xpel. Got hit with three rocks off a flatbed tow truck this morning, thankfully my Xpel kept them from damaging the paint. Point is, just forgive yourself for a minor error and enjoy.

Ouch! sorry dude, It sucks when you do that.
Believe it or not the 'Track worn' look is a thing here in the UK. Some people damage their cars on purpose I guess it helps them look authentic or something? Last edited by CommitConfirm; 11-05-2016 at 08:34 PM.. |

Does anyone know the approach angle for the M2? I have a week 45 build slot but I'm worried about getting it up my driveway. My iPhone level says the driveway is 11 degrees.

As those have said, relax, enjoy the car. It's almost like some people have never owned a car before. It's not a Ferrari, drive more, worry less!

Yeah, no biggie...
With the GT4, I had to be extra, extra careful because I live in downtown Philly (Philly roads suck). The front lip on that car was a throw-away item and many GT4 owners bought extras right off the bat knowing that they were going to scrape the front...it was a matter of when, not if... It's going to happen with an aggressive sport car like the M2. Very common, so just enjoy that beauty! |

Don't worry, the first blemish is always the hardest. Life goes on

That really sucks! I remember doing that to my 135i just after I got it... again didn't realize how low the front was with that M package front. Made me sick to my stomach for a few days... even while trying to dress it up as much as I could with touch up paint. Then I realized it was pretty much invisible and got over it.
Touch few days for sure. Take a deep breath and let it go. |

I think I had lots of practice then in my previous daily which was lowered.. I dropped the M2 on springs only so its not slammed in any way but haven't had any issues thankfully.
OP hope nothing was damaged excessively!

Front parking assist would have been nice. I use it constantly in my other two Bimmers. To me it's silly that it can read speed limit signs but doesn't have front parking assist and, for that matter, has lane departure warning but not blind spot monitoring. I would trade both of the former safety features for the latter in a second.

Well this happens so often its ridiculous just let it go and move on :-) Its not fun but at least it just plastic and won't cause any corrosion issues and its not visible, After mounting the lip on my former m235i this was a constant in my home town the roads are terrible and speed bumps well let me put it this way its like your driveways but they come one after another 4-5 times in row so ....I just gave up on trying to avoid damaging the lip, as long as it din't brake apart i just had to accept the fact, And my m235i wasn't even lowered, It was like oh look a speed bump lets approach it slowly and only with one side and then the infamous sound of scraping and me going "oh again, oh well"
