BMW M Laptimer app - new version vs. old

I used the M Laptimer app on my iPod when I owned the 2015 M235i. It's version 1.6. I recorded track sessions on it at Palmer Motorsports, Lime Rock Park, and Watkins Glen between 2015 and 2017.

Now I'm getting ready to go to Watkins Glen again. I just checked the Apple app store to see if there are any updates for the Laptimer app, and found out there's a brand new version. The new version is 4.2.

I installed the new app and now both 1.6 and 4.2 versions are installed. They seem to co-exist but of course I haven't recorded any new sessions with the M2C yet.

One question is, can the old sessions be imported/transferred to the new version? If that's possible, then is it best to uninstall the old version? The app store description says you can import/export, but I don't see a menu option for that.

Second question, will there be a conflict between the two installed apps when I connect to the iDrive app?

It's frustrating that there's no manual for the M Laptimer app. I ended up experimenting a little on my own just by driving around the neighborhood. The basics are simple:
  1. Open the app on the iPod/iPhone
  2. connect to a USB port
  3. use Connected Drive->Apps in iDrive
  4. Both versions of laptimer are present in iDrive, so choose the correct one
  5. Press record button to start recording

Anyway, it seems that both the 1.6 and 4.2 versions can co-exist and either can be used. The newer version supports video integration more easily assuming you use the phone/iPod camera. I'm just using the lap statistics part of the application and have a non-Wi-Fi GoPro separately mounted for video.

I'll probably try both versions for the upcoming Watkins Glen event in a couple days. All I'm really looking for is lap times and speeds reached.

I also have the RaceChrono app on my Android phone and will use that for a session or two. I used that app with my Camaro and it's easy to use and works well.
