Anyone got any good suggestions for a pressure washer for apartment use where I don't have access to a water or electrical source? I see some battery pack electric power washers which can take a 5G bucket of water....

Anyone use one for light car washes?

Yeah, that's the one I was looking at....and then I read a few threads say Sun-Joe is garbage quality and will break after two uses...do you have any first hand experience with this one? Thanks!

Not with that model but I have several other products from them and have been happy.

Sun Joe sells refurbished products too. That model is out of stock at the moment but AMZN has it even cheaper ($184) and it's in stock with a 90 day return. Their reviews are positive as well.

I happened to be around a DIY Wash Bay car wash yesterday and sprayed the car off - it was bad and I'm glad I did it...might just do 2-bucket ONR wash later

So I have water supply, but no power. I picked up the Sun Joe and have been using it for the past few years. It’s not the most powerful but it works. No risk of damaging anything either. You could put your hand in front of the 40 degree nozzle without issue.

Also there is now a Ryobi one. I might be looking into that. A little more juice and water flow.

Oh and one last thing. Strongly recommend the 6001 model instead of the 6000. I went though 2 of the 6000 model and they were warranties based on the auto start/stop failing. The 6001 has been bulletproof.

Looks like the 6001 WITHOUT battery or battery charger is $100 less than the one with a battery charger...how does that make any sense?

I use the original Worx Hydroshot with the foaming accessory thing. I bought a 7 gallon container from amazon and then bungee corded it to a 4 wheel roller. I've done 50-100 washes with this set-up and have had zero issues. Every time I was at my apartment people come over and ask about the set-up, it's really pretty cool when you don't have a hose. My whole process takes about 60-70 minutes but I'm 2.5 years in and car looks flawless!

I just can't imagine that having enough pressure to remove loose dirt like a pressure washer would - probably fine for soaping/foaming the car prior to washing - but then how do you rinse?

Neither do I however a pal of mine does m/cycle detailing/cleaning as hobby/part-time business.

He used it to "pre-clean" my Speed Triple R on relatively low pressure with warm water c/w APC solution. It lifted dirt/grime/grease/tar etc with ease.

He then cleaned the alloys/debugged the front of my wife's car - again easy-as and v effective given that it was contactless.

as a result, I'm pondering getting one.....

I think there is a bit of pressure washer equals clean car around here.

I admit I could clean my car excellently without it but enjoy the snow foam process (who doesn't) and applying gyeon wet coat frankly is just better with a pressure washer.

So what I'm saying is, it can be worked around.

Yea a bit pricey. We have a spigot for hose attachment here...if you find one of the nice maintenance guys haha

Hi, so in my opinion I would go with the idea of a slightly different way of cleaning. You don't really need a pressure washer and use it purely to blast off the dirt, I'd class that as dangerous and a poor technique.

If you did have a water supply tap/faucet then I'd just use a garden hose with the typical gun type attachment on the end giving various sprays, you can also get attachment for these to allow snow foaming.

Failing this or as you don't have access to either a water supply or power I'd just use various pressure pump sprayers, first a citrus pre wash, then you can get specific foam pumps for snow foam, followed by a normal hand wash and finally another sprayer to rinse.

Personally I think you can only use a pressure washer and snow foam to do quick maintenance wash on a relatively already clean car.

Main real danger from pressure washers that is rarely discussed or witnessed on videos is complete disregard for water ingress under high pressure.

People spraying sensors, seals, brakes with high pressure water. It's probably all designed in to cars these days but why push your luck?

As said twice now, a pressure washer is nice to have for cleaning a car, yeh quite nice tbh. Is it essential? Most definitely not.

So if you want help with work-arounds to detail without one, let us know what you can and can't do where you live and what your aims and amount of effort you want to put in are.
