Daily Driver Comparison?
I’m considering an M2C as a daily driver but it is unlikely that I will have the ability to test drive one over any bad roads. I’m curious if there are any comparisons that current owners could make to help gauge where the M2C suspensions/harshness fall?
The current gen Civic Type R and a 2016 WRX are probably the two stiffest suspensions I’ve daily driven. |

It’s a little stiffer than my 350z was, but not by very much. The roads here in Seattle are very crappy and the car is usable on a daily basis, but I have to be aware of my surroundings and take it slow over potholes and stuff. It is my only car. I’ve never ridden in a 2016 WRX, but it’s stiffer than any of the older stock WRXs I’ve been in.

Funny enough I think it rides better than my Golf R.
That thing crashed over bumps and such, this car feels like it absorbs them much better. |

Coming from a 2017 330i touring with 19 inch wheels and run flats the ride in the M2C is actually better. Yes the suspension itself is stiffer, but the Michelin tires really help with all the little road chatter. Feels better damped. The initial travel is much softer than my '17 330i. Just drove 100 miles yesterday and was just thinking how comfortable the car is (for what it is). Sure its a little bouncy and over expansion joints you notice the stiffness, but all in all, it's much less harsh then I anticipated. FYI, roads are crap here.

It really depends on your definition of "stiff suspension" and "bad roads." I've lived over many different parts of the country. In Texas my Pontiac GTO with full suspension (coilovers, swaybars, full polyurethane bushings) rode just fine over our bad roads, but in Boston my stock M2 suspension felt bad just hitting expansion joints on the interstate. Then, visiting Quebec in winter I discovered Boston roads actually pretty good in comparison.
The M2 rides harsh, but some people can tolerate it and some people think they have bad roads when they don't. |

Slightly softer or the same as a 991 911 C2S/C4S/GTS, stiffer than GT350R, way stiffer than GTI, stiffer than Camaro SS, way stiffer than m240i, a little stiffer than F80, slightly stiffer than Fiesta ST.
It's definitely on the stiffer side but it's fine for me. The roads in DFW are rough but not super rough.

I came from a Lexus IS350 FSport, which was butter on the road. I drove a new 2018 M2 and thought it was absolutely terrible. I ended up buying a 2018 with 9400 miles on it, and the suspension is much softer than it was when it was new.
I'd say that if you have good roads you'll enjoy this car once you get a few miles on it. It's definitely better than my old '05 STi with springs. There are things you can do to make this car a much better daily, but they all depend on your goals. - You can effectively run 30 psi in the tires without any issue, and that'll soften the car as well. - Swap the Summer tires for all-season tires - Disconnect/turn off the ASD |

I think the real question is more how rough is too rough for you? The M2 isnt a soft ride by any means however its not really that harsh either. However for me, i'm coming from a fully Autocross specced S2k that was my daily driver for a year, so this car is a dream in comparison.
If you've driven the Civic Type R and were ok with that, then i think you'll be fine. Many people praise the Type R for its daily ability while also being a beast on the track. |

here's recent comparos from me:
cayman S with x73 and 20's significantly rougher than M2C cayman S with standard susp and 20's about the same as M2C Z4 coupe 3.0si with sport package and 18's, about the same as M2C m240i in comfort mode, much softer, in sport, about the same overall I would say its liveable and most of the time the drive is so good I am captivated so much that I don't notice the ride unless my head is hitting the roof |

This is my first M car, I'm love the suspension on this car. Its tight, stiff, just like it should be and there is minimal body roll. I dont live around perfect streets, but I wouldn't change the suspension. This is why I bought this car.

Back to the topic, from what i can remember, it's def. stiffer than my 350z was stock, but i had coilovers put on when the car was less than a year old. I would say it's about as stiff as the Z on coilovers but not as flat in corners as my Z had 255s up front and 305s out back. In terms of overall driving, it is a bumpy car but to be honest, it's not overly stiff. Like, your fillings will still be in your teeth after a spirited drive downtown. Personally, I think it makes a great DD.

Harshness is pretty subjective and depends what you are comparing it to. I don't find the suspension upsetting at all.
As a daily driver the level of noise in the cabin due to lack of sound deadening and garbage sound system are far more troubling. I guess tire roar is what passes for 'sporty' these days. Luckily both problems can be rectified. |

I have the front door seals ready to go on, and I'm going to order the large metal panels for the body next to the rear seats. Will see how that goes to start, I just want to lower the noise floor a bit. I want engine and exhaust sounds, not tire roar. I have already installed Bavsound Stage 1 which massively improves the speakers.

I have owned 2019 Civic Type R,2018 WRX Sti, 2017 Golf R, and I feel the M2C rides better than the the others in their most aggressive suspension setting. Now if you coming from a Lexus IS then you may not like the M2C. I live in the Tri state area ...worst roads in the US

The M2C is stiff, but not overly. Feels planted, but big overpasses on interstates at speed are somewhat jarring. I've ridden in some higher end cars, specifically GTR's, to know that those ride like garbage. The M2C is a million times better DD than something like that. It's never bad enough to where I wish it were softer.

Like others have said, it is all pretty subjective based on what you are used to. My perspective is that the suspension is fine for a DD. It is much more comfortable than the "adjustable" suspension in my previous DD, an F80 ZCP.
For reference, I find the M2Cs suspension stiffer than my E39 M5 but less stiff than my Z4M coupe.
