Has anyone noticed any change in the sound system with ASD turned off in the M2C? I think I remember reading that that was an issue in the OG M2. Can’t remeber if it improved or worsened the audio quality.

You're right; with all those distractions, you better get a DCT. Manuals demand too much attention.

As for drowning out the extraneous family noise, I think you might have found the only valid purpose for the existence of ASD!

For me it is improving the quality, sound is not deteriorated by the ASD fake noises, so for me it is more clean with better details in it.

No issues

I tried turning of ASD in my M6 and it just sounds like a... nothing. Maybe a 630d?

That's why they add it.

In Esys or expert bimmercode mode you can have fun changing engine versions and vehicle models / variants / dates / world regions with coding too.

So you can change the car to a different model or maybe change engine to a diesel

I changed my F06 M6 to an F10 M5 in ASD settings and it sounds a lot better, BMW must think M5 drivers want more noises than M6 drivers!

Also set to Russia it was more rumbly at idle. (and set to M6 vert was louder too).

You could try changing the F87 (M2) to F80 or F82 etc or any model on the list to hear the effects.

Have a play with it.

Could you teach me how to do that through bimmercode? It would be pretty hilarious to make my 135 sound like an m5

Sure, just go to:

ASD-configuration

Then select "expert mode"

Then "3000 ASD-Configuration" will appear, select that.

Then various sub-groups appear:

Model Range
Engine
Audio Level
Power Class
Competition Paket
Country Variant
Construction stage

Then you can go into these and make changes as you want.

You can code ASD with the engine running and hear the changes in real time.

They revised ASD for all BMWs MY2016 and beyond; you cannot change any of those parameters you mention on any of the newer vehicles..

If you do, it will just disable ASD completely.

Active Sound gone after latest software update? https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1193651

ASD not working with latest update https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1264366

Is it still possible to change engine sound on ASD with the latest PSDZ data? https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1404069

Older ASD software use to allow you change the model/sound. Example:

Anyone is aware of an app that is able to code the MDM to a different setting ? Seems only the BMW software bundle can do it for now..

Kleinacus Ohhh who are you using for your PPF if I may ask? My M2C won't be here for a few more weeks but I've been getting quotes from local places.

LeeBerbs in Hillsborough, NJ. Highly recommend. Tell Lee that Jordan sent you. It won't get you anything but it'll make me feel important. They did Xpel ultimate PPF/Tint and ceramic coat.

Yeah he has been one of the main two people I've talked to. Him and Detailers Domain. I want to do stealth as well as coatings and tint but the quote gave me a bit of sticker shock lol.

Do you have any pics? I'd love to see them.

Sorry

Here you go...

Full wrap isn't cheap. I was thinking stealth but went against it. Less concern about borders around badges and the necessity to do the entire car. I did most of the car but was able to save money on areas I really shouldn't take hits by doing ultimate instead.

How good is the ASD off coding with the App? Possible to revert now? I am sure it was discussed here. Thanks
