What's the general consensus is Apple or Android better for coding your car?

Does everyone here have iphones? If you have an android would you use bimmercode or carly? It looks like carly has what both bimmercode and bimmerlink have combined or is that incorrect? Eitherway android only works with bimmercode so aren't you missing out on features by not going carly for android?
Not sure which to get...

I'll give it a go but I didn't have any luck with carly. It wasn't getting a good connection. That's not possible as I use the same OBDLink for maybe 5 or 6 other apps that use it. 5ish (different real time portal displays/diag/logging) for the s4 and bimmercode for the m2c. I'll try again this weekend and report back.

I've had zero issues with bimmercode. I think the only thing it doesn't have (unless someone can correct me) is the option to have the exhaust flaps open or closed in all modes (comfort/sport/sport+). As that isn't a desired setting for me either way(always open or always closed), it doesn't impact me.

Thank You. If indeed it's only the exhaust settings you miss out with not having bimmerlink on android then bimmercode seems good enough to me.

As for carly - It looked like there were only a few adapters they even offered - perhaps it'a a proprietary thing?

I can only speak for myself. I use an android tablet with the OBDLink bluetooth device I mentioned above and have had no problems using bimmercode. I used it to code everything I wanted before dropping it off for PPF, etc a few days ago.
Thanks.
I already have BimmerCode and use via a Vgate Wi-fi via my iPhone. Worked great on OGM2, just wanting to find out if that combo of tech works on M2C?....

I have the same setup (VGate WiFi + iPhone), and Bimmercode works fine on my M2C.

BTW, BimmerLink also works fine. I used that to code off ASD.

That's the main thing I want to code, ASD. So that doesn't work with BimmerCode? Do I have to buy BimmerLink for ASD removal then? (At added cost?)

I used BimmerCode to code off the NAV warnings and used BimmerLink for ASD. I had issues with BimmerCode and ASD on my OG m2. That's why I gave bimmerlink a shot.

Oh okay that explains it then. I just got my OBD2 dongle so I'll be trying it out today (coding) and let you guys know if that works.

2017 BMW X3 switch to led bulbs

Hi I have a BMW X3 sdrive28i with factory hologram light for low beam and high.
I recently changed them to led but get errors all the time.
How can I stop this with BimmerCode ?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone had any luck getting the mirrors to fold on locking the car with the US spec M2C? I have both apps, and on bimmercode I set "Fold mirrors when locking vehicle with comfort access" to "active" and I coded it but it's not working. Anybody else had any luck?

What happens when you press and hold the locking button for a few seconds?

Oh I'm just unlocking / locking the door with the door handle. Should I use the fob?

What is the difference between bimmerlink and bimmercode? Should I use one over the other, or both?

Bimmercode is for coding, so more to control things permanently. Bimmerlink has a more „on-demand“ approach, like open/close valves etc.

As ///M Houbi says, you have to long press it.

I have US spec and it works for me. Keep your finger on the handle for like 4 or 5 seconds and it should fold.

Same with a long press on the key fob (4 or 5 seconds) if you coded that as well.

I got both apps in the end. And paid for both - like ~$30 each. Totally worth every penny.

Check them out on the iPhone App Store - screen shots will give you a sense of what each can do.

In my own case:

Bimmercode:
1. Got rid of that STUPID legal disclaimer on head unit upon startup

2. Programmed mirrors to fold with both comfort access and long press on key fob

BimmerLink:

1. Have open flaps all the time and it sounds awesome!

2. Toggle between ASD on and off, depending on situation

Totally money well spent!

Which one gets rid of the legal disclaimer? I was looking for that one specifically but couldn't find it.

Navigate to the following: > headunit > display options multimedia system > legal disclaimers.

Change it from "unknown value" to "not active"
