Chronumn's M2 Comp Progress Thread
Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr
Welcome to my personal journal for my M2 comp. I will be posting updates about modifications and events taking place with my m2. This car means more to me than any other car I've owned. It's my first brand new vehicle purchase, and it's my first M car! I see no reason to ever go back from here. Working for BMW I've drank all the kool-aid and I'm heavily invested in the brand. Bias aside this is the best car I've ever owned. My previous vehicles include e82 135i, e92 335i, FD RX7, S2000, BRZ, Nismo 370z, and a few miatas. The M2 will be my daily driver for now, and it will see track time. Modifications performed will be to enhance the experience at the track. Current Modifications IND Reflector Delete Coding Completed Clear Bra front bumper + hood Motul RBF 600 Brake Fluid APEX stud conversion KW V3 Coilovers Apex 12MM Spacers Future Modifications Square forged wheels + 200tw tires RW Carbon M performance style front lip RW Carbon CS Style rear diffuser. Delivery My delivery experience was slightly different than the norm. I ordered my car the day we got our allocations in March of 2019. I was in between HS and AW for the color choice. Everyone ended up convincing me HS was the way to go. I'm very happy with my decision now. I also ordered manual transmission, blue stitching, exec package, and stainless steel pedals. I stared at the order tracking system until it was assigned to the Apollon Highway ship. I was glued to the vessel tracking websites watching it cross the Atlantic. Originally I had planned to do a Performance Center delivery so I could have a normal delivery experience and take the car through the mountains. Scheduling conflicts happened and I had to cancel. This meant my car was dropped of at the port further away than it should have been adding more time. The day finally came when it had arrived. I ran over to the pre-delivery inspection shop to check it out. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Selling cars every day makes the fizz of seeing and sitting in a brand new car wear off quickly. It didn't feel like mine just yet. pulling it out of the shop Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr My coworkers moved my car into the delivery room with all the shipping vinyl still on the car. I was having the car detailed a few days after and wrapped with clear bra so I didn't wash it at delivery. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Before the paperwork was finalized I took it out for my first tank of fuel, seemed cheap to fill up. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr I brought the car to its new home and I was in love after the first drive. I had never driven an M2 comp with a manual transmission before. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Tinting The first thing I needed to address was tint. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of tints but it's a necessary requirement living in South Florida. So off I went to the tint shop to have 25% carbon tint installed on all the windows and 80% done on the windshield. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Clear Bra I had clear bra done by a friends local detailing shop, it turned out great in my opinion. He used a pre-cut xpel piece for the bumper and hood. He also detailed the car inside and out before installing. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr IND Reflector Delete Next on the list was swapping out the reflectors. I turned to IND to fix this problem. I purchased the necessary parts and installed them in my garage. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Cars and Coffee Palm Beach I took my car out to cars and coffee, I didn't park inside because I showed up late, but after the event some friends and I went to the beach to take some photos. Track Day SCCA 09/15/19
The M2 had 2000 miles on it so I thought it would be the right time to stretch it's legs. Off to the track we go. But first I wanted to flush the brake fluid with some Motul RBF 600. Just in case the stock fluid wouldn't be up to the task of braking from 120 multiple times over and over again. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Performance on track was very good. The only major drawback of the car is camber and tires. The brakes were solid and only became a little soft on the last lap of the day. I will post a full video from one of my sessions once I upload it to youtube. KW V3 Coilovers
Received my KW V3's from a fellow forum member. They came with ground control top hats for the OG M2 which I will be replacing with the correct version for the M2C. They are great looking and performing shocks, hoping to get the blue camber plates to go better with the yellow/purple scheme. DSC00345 by chronumn, on Flickr DSC00354 by chronumn, on Flickr Update 11/2/19 Finally got the coilovers installed with some help from coworkers. Put it up on the alignment rack after and squared up the camber at -2 all around. SCCA PBIR and Sebring Track Day
Got to finally stretch out the M2's legs at the track with the new suspension and alignment settings. All I can say is wow, what a world of difference. With some good tires this car will be unstoppable. Here is the video of one of my faster laps at Sebring. For those who are familiar I ran a 2.27.1. I think for my first time on the track I did really well. The car had a high .25 lap in it but the stock MPSS get really greased up quickly so you have about a 1-2 lap window for setting your best time. I was running up a .25 lap and the back end blew out on me at turn 15. There is always next time, so I'm not worried. For those interested in a better viewing angle here is another video with a better camera location. In this video I'm driving my father's e46 M3 which can be seen in the pictures below. Car is completely stock with MC 1 way dampers, CSL brakes and a square wheel set up on 275 R888R. 2.33 lap. Eisenmann Exhaust Install
Found this eisenmann exhaust for sale on the classifieds section and decided it was time to upgrade. I want to say this has to be by far the cleanest used exhaust I've ever seen. I think it even looks better than brand new. Untitled by chronumn, on Flickr Love the look of the OEM+ m performance style tips. Track day at Sebring with Chin. Starting to really consider some weight saving possibilities and real track tires because the car seems to push a lot through some corners. Possibly some sway bars and tires will remedy it. Last edited by Chronumn; 10-08-2020 at 03:29 PM.. |

wow! nice car, and nice exhaust! i'm looking at the same Eisenmann exhaust too. i got a question for you. it appears that you have their signature tips. i'm deciding between those same tips or their lemans tips.
now, is there still room to push the tips further in more or are they already sitting as far back as possible (how much room is there left to play with)? i like the tips you have, but i'm leaning towards getting the lemans tips because i don't want them to stick too far out from the bumper/diffuser. |
