so what's the recommendation on a true square winter set-up on an M2C with these? 19x9.5 ET28? running 245/35 tires?

Our go-to recommendation for a M2C winter setup for the SM-10/EC-7 design utilizes the following specs:

Wheels:

Front & Rear: 19x9" ET30
-Direct fit

Tires:

APEX Staff Pick: Front & Rear: 245/35-19

Performance Winter tire recommendations: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4, Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3, Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D, Vredestein Wintrac Pro

With a 19x9" ET30 wrapped in 245/35-19 tires at all four corners, this setup will be a complete direct fit on a stock M2C and will have no issues clearing the larger 2NH front brakes. The 19x9" ET30 is a bit better suited for a 245/35-19 tire, as it allows for a bit more sidewall, resulting in additional protection for the rim of the wheel. With that same tire size on the 19x9.5" ET28, most winter tires will be a bit stretched, which isn't ideal for off-season driving.

Hope this helps!

Pulled the OEM BMW wheels and tires (PSS - great rubber) and put Apex SM10 wheels (9.5 & 10.5 x 19) with Pilot Sport Cup 2 sneakers (265 & 295) on the car.

Been running the Apex EC7 with the same size spec R compound tires on the track and really like the feel.

Came home from the track a couple of weeks ago, didn't change them out, did a bit of street driving with the track wheels and was blown away with just how much more traction they gave. Second gear rear wheel spinning was a breeze with the 265/35 PSS, now it's no spin and just forward momentum gain.

My present PSS are worn out at 10.1K miles (inner front shoulders are shot due to finding a good track setup and not having camber set correctly last time - waaaay too much). I probably have 20% of the tread left front and rear.

I'd always said I'd put new wheels on when it was time to change out the tires and since I like the Apex setup that's what I went with again.

The sidewalls on the Pilot Sport Cup 2 are thicker/stand out just a tad more than the Toyo R888 so my spring perch adjustments are rubbing on the inside sidewall just a touch (about a millimeter). I'm waiting on 3mm spacers from Apex - should be here either tomorrow or Wednesday.

I waited for the OEM tires to wear down. Finally after a year (talk about patience) I swapped my OEM wheels with the Apex wheels I bought quite some time ago. Only got a chance to take one evening pic. I will post up some more daytime pics soon. RT660 tires are meaty. Give the car a formidable look and the combo is definitely track capable. Posted an install pic in comparison to stock for anyone considering this on Sunset Orange. This maybe the longest wait to put on wheels. I think I bought these two years ago. 😝

Daytime pic after work. I like the way these look for sure. Color changes quite a bit in different light.
