The answer is probably no but any chance of BMW updating us that already purchased a MY2016?

Good news I guess, but with no allocations available and only around 300 cars in the US, I'm almost ready for BMW to announce that they are ending production like what happened with 1M

They have to make another 300 cars and then do it.

That's not happening! M2 isn't going anywhere. It's just not getting anywhere either.

You're lucky you already got yours.

One has to wonder what BMW is doing with this car. Low production numbers I can understand, but no production? no news, plans?
Maybe we as a community just follow everything way too close and should just be patient.

I got mine 4/8/16 and prior to that, I was having a total meltdown that it wouldn't happen. This "community" definitely has issues i.e. being obsessive.

Not real sure how "obsessive" it is to get a little pissy after being on a waitlist for a car a year ago, then wait until it is "officially launched," then wait several more months without hearing reliable information as to when it will actually be produced in the numbers suggested at launch.

Confused a bit by the wording...Does this mean the M Driver's package has to be ordered w/the car or that it is not an option, period?

They specifically call out the iDrive 5.0 for all of the series listed except the i's, 7 and M2?

http://www.bmwusanews.com/newsrelease.do?id=2658&mid=2

Doesn't BMW realize we pick apart the news and that need to be extremely detailed or we'll read into what is there and not there?

In Car Wifi is beyond pointless. I had it and never used it. It's redundant with mobile phone data. It provides the same service, at basically the same cost, from the same providers. Just increase your phone/tablet data package if you want more data/internet instead of buying a separate SIM card for your car from the same people just to have "in car wifi"

I never said you didn't have a right to be annoyed at the lack of proper communication but compared to nonenthusiasts, we're on top of every shred of info hence "obsessive". No ones discounting your feelings. This isn't the first time a new car launch was a cluster f*.

Oh, you add the car to the plan? It doesn't somehow boost the phone's hotspot feature?

Nope. Have to have a sim card for the car specifically. Pretty useless these days since, as mentioned, it runs on the same cell networks. I guess you could get a different provider from your current plan but that costs more.

Wireless charging is a built in QI pad (don't quote me on the standard) that you can use just like any other wireless charger. It's in the center console.

Not sure if they are being coy or what with the info but I'd be shocked if Canada has confirmed idrive 5.0 but the US doesn't, considering the parts are all the same and they are built in the same line, etc. Might be an option rather than standard feature, since it's an option in Canada.
