I guess the manufacturers use the lessons learned over the model life cycle to apply to the halo, special-edition car at the end of the cycle, but it is frustrating when that particular model platform is soon rendered obsolete.

You've got to start somewhere

Joe's made improvements (over time) as it truly takes awhile to develop a unique style and to refine the little things

I kinda like him but his videos are boring. He keeps going on repeating the same thing.
I like his reviews a lot. He does research, knows his stuff and is authentic and transparent. He doesn't try to market to his audience and I look forward to his videos. I'm checking regularly to see when his follow up CS review comes out.

Why does it matter if the platform is no longer being built on. The car will run 20+ years if cared for.

I’ve had that conversation on the F80 forum. You need much deeper pockets for those (to buy, to track and maintain) and you lose the 4 seater convenience factor. But the overall expense is in a different category.

Well, as the reviews come in, they appear to be largely consistent. For most who want a fun DD (and especially if you don't care about cosmetic bits or want a semi-sleeper), the M2C fits the bill. For those who want to ultimate M2, who don't care that it looks more extroverted, and perhaps those who plan to do significant track work, the M2CS might be worth it.

And as had been said many times before, if someone with an M2C really wanted to replicate the M2CS, it would cost more money, and (depending on the engine tune chosen) may not have a warranty.

Although I'm not in the market for this car, I am very happy M is building it, especially with a MT option.

I actually think the video pretty accurately reflects what BMW was hoping to accomplish. If someone wants a serious track prepped M2 the CS isn't the way to go. The $25k additional cost would be much better spent on a real suspension, lighter wheels, better brakes for track use etc etc.

I feel like the CS is for a person that wants an M2 but wants all the coolest components available. Carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber hood, wheel/brake package, adjustable susp, interior changes all bad azz.

There are obviously exceptions to the rule but vast majority of M2CS owners are buying the car because it looks so dam good, not because it's x.xx seconds faster around their local track.
Can't emphasize this enough, you want a real m2 cs, you deck it out with double or triple adjustable suspension and custom spring rates, and all the other goodies you want , way less than 25k

Certainly. And if I didn’t pick up my M2C last year, I might seriously consider the M2CS. It’s just a bummer to spend a lot of money for a halo, “best of breed” car, only to have its platform replaced the next year with updated/better engine, suspension, brakes, features, etc. It’s just the necessary timing of the model life cycle.

On the other hand, at least with BMW, the updated model is almost always heavier and more removed/insulated from the driving experience. And time helps bring into focus the true greats—the E46 M3 CSL owner probably isn’t upset that he or she doesn’t have a base E92 M3...

How do I sound like a straight up hater. I literally just asked if anyone else isn't a fan of his, I didn't call him names or even say anything that rude, simply asked a question. You need to not jump to conclusions. I don't hate him in any way, I just find him boring, hence I wanted to know if others felt the same.
Yes, I get it mate. I have nothing against the guy, in fact admire his entrepreneurial spirit but he just lacks the charisma to hold my attention for long and isn't a natural presenter. All the best to him though and if others like him crack on!

Here's to hoping enough people either:

a.) Realize a $20-25k cosmetic upgrade isn't worth it
and/or
b.) Don't want to buy a platform that's "soon rendered obsolete".

That means a bunch of dealer ordered cars will sit on the lots for months with a high price tag forcing huge discounts like the M3/4CS, right?

If so, the M2CS would be quite a nice and affordable lease to cover the gap like the M3CS was.

Sadly, I highly doubt it will be the case with this car, so no M2CS for me.

I'm getting the vibe that there aren't going to me many lot cars. Unless a dealership orders one with their allocation to flip it if they don't have a customer or just choose to keep it for themselves.

I've also read that dealerships trade allocations.

+1 Dave and I've always referred to the 3/4CS scenario as you might recall. Pretty sure with this being the M2 ie entry and having more limited numbers might do the trick this time for BMW.

I would buy it only for the suspension. The M2/M2C suspension is a joke, and the MP is better but too harsh on bumpy roads.

And I would add that, paradoxally, only the CS is a ´perfect’ M-car in the sense that it can be more confortable on the road (in town or on bad roads), faster for spirited driving on bumpy roads, while being a beast on track without no need of modification. Stock M2/M2C are neither great in all conditions on the road nor on track. And if you tune your M2 to make it great on track, you end up with a car awful to drive on roads that are not perfectly flat...

A pity there is only four basic colours available for this CS still... It would be so nice in San Marino blue 🤩 If money was falling from the sky, I would take a CS and make it paint by BMW in this colour...

Don't think this will be the case since most dealerships are only getting 1 or 2 cars. It's only in production from September - December of this year. M3/M4 CS were in production much longer.

The production for the M2 CS for the rest of the world outside of Europe is until June 2021!
