I have flashed my eu spec M2 Comp with Bootmod3.
OTS map was: stage 0+ (M4 CS) stock performance calibration map. Changes in maps: everything oem, except OPF, which i turned OFF. After flashing Bootmod3 software asked me to do the online coding, so i did it as well. Symptoms: - after ignition on (and even during engine start) DSC Off appears under RPM gauge behind the "P" park symbol. In factory M2 comp software that was not the case. DSC Off disappeared once i rolled the car. Interesting. Is it normal? - I got 201101 DME, tamper protection, recognized program or data manipulation error code, which i could not delete with BM3. Is it normal? I have already open a ticket to BM3 support, waiting for their reply as well. My question related to Stage 0+ (M4 CS) M4 CS stock performance calibration map: is this an OEM map or a just an OEM like calibration? Because in the past, if i remember well, there was M3/M4 CS OEM map as well. Maybe renamed? Please chime in. Laszlo |

I'm bored at work today (kind of empty here today due to the holiday)...can we talk about how GREAT the stage 1 tune is?
I'm having so much fun with it, although, I think I need wider tires now as there's so much power. haha |

I'm in the same boat (waiting for my paid for 2020 to get cleared from stop sale for the airbag issue) and was going to do BM3 + downpipes. I had JB4 with my M4 and thought it was great, but the BM3 approach seems so much better and easier, so i sure hope they get a solve.

So far, no one has broken new ECU patch.. Basically when you try to unlock you DME, it's bounces back the request and say it can't identify the VIN. This was confirm with a recent flash attempt.
Smart BMW came up with a patch; it's was way too easy to extract power, which it opens them up for potential warranty repairs, so this is legal striking back.. But as long as everything is electronic, someone will find a way to circumvent this latest firewall. Time... |

plus how can the sell tiers of vehicles when you can just code them to all be around the same power output? not just warranty, but their sales also probably bitching that 65K M2C are running 130K GTS power levels

BMW probably did it for reasons like this, where they found the Dinan tune caused the engine to blow and I assume more aggressive tunes like the Bootmod could be even worse;

Its just when a company makes a product with X amount of power and a set warranty to match, they take on a certain amount of calculated risk. When said consumer goes and makes modification to increase the set power and thus, in turn, increase the risk of failure, a company sees this a form of pilferage, so they put up road blocks to minimize their lost profile. If you purchase the vehicle and never tune it, it doesn't even matter that there's a firewall in the ECU, Its when you try to go beyond that, you get bounced back. |

They are selling the product, but not the source code. That's similar to having an iphone but requiring that apple release the code so you can modify however you want. I get where you are going, but it just isn't reality.

You're probably one of those people that thinks you "own" that song or movie you bought and downloaded from iTunes. News flash, you don't. You just have a license to it. But let me give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you think my position is that I wouldn't code or tune. It's not. I want to and I do on all my cars. Doesn't mean it technically isn't violating someone else's IP. Just like I walk through my neighbors yard to get to the park by my house. Technically I'm trespassing, doesn't mean I'm not going to do it. Just because BMW and my neighbor don't come after me in court, doesn't mean they don't technically have a right to.
