I came across this post on F30Post where Tim@codemybimmer coded the rear lights to function as turn signals.

I wanted to do the same for my M2C as my car is Euro spec and came with amber turn signals. And I know many USDM guys would prefer amber turn signals over red ones, but there is something cool about having red signals in a non-U.S. market.

The codes required to make this change is identical to that of F30’s despite the M2 having a different taillight design.

With these codes, both the signals and red light will illuminate. You have to change Mapping_Blinker_PWM_H_L_Level_1 and Mapping_Blinker_H_R_Level_1 to 0x00 to disable the signals. You can leave the signals on if you wish to. They’ll illumate at the same time (red&amber).

Since it uses the DRL part of the tails as turn signals, they don’t mess with your brake lights like some other cars do.

I think it’s a pretty cool mod if you don’t have a USDM car. Back in the states, I wanted Euro tails on my F30 and now I’m going to great lengths to have red signals lol.

Why didn't you just swap your tail lights for US spec ones lol? I would be down to trade you lol

For sure, I'd MUCH rather have amber turn signals than red... but it's too expensive to be worth it. A TRADE, though, I could do.

Update: Just having the DRLs light up isn’t bright enough when it’s bright outside. You may want to make the brake lights function as turn signals too.

To do that the codes are the following:
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_FUNCTION > werte 06
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT > sl_l
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT > werte 01
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_FUNCTION > werte 07
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_OUTPUT > sl_r
MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_PRIORITY > werte 01

You may have to change all the BRAKEFORCED priority values to 02 if your turn signals are not working while brakes are applied.


Just writing this so that I can refer to it if I ever want to do this again.

I have to go through a full inspection every 2 years, which means I need my stock tails to pass the test
