popping and crackling from the back left speaker
Hey,
I’ve had my M2 for two years now and only yesterday the back left speaker started to pop and crack. It’s a Feb 2018 model and warranty is no longer covered. I’ve been reading quite a few forums and believe its a problem with the amp. For a quick fix I had the back left speaker disconnected which has solved the popping and crackling noise but I’m worried it will find a way to move to the next speakers, I really don’t want to take it to a BMW dealership as I know how much they rip people off! Hardly any garage will touch it either to repair it!! I have no idea what to do 😪 any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Check and see if any water reached your amp. Its a known issue with the M2's.
If the amp is damaged you should look to replace it with another HK, or look at the aftermarket DSP solutions such as the Match7UP or the BAV Sound one. I have the Match 7 and its outstanding

I have the same year and model M2 as you do, and my HK Amp just went out recently as well. It started crackling and making these loud pops and booms until it finally died. Out of warranty as well. Took mine to BMW to inspect. They had no idea why it wasn't working. Essentially just told me to replace it for $2,100. Definitely a known issue with the M2's though.
There's a bulletin online explaining the how it happens. A water/condensation issue. They add this $10 plastic shield to go over the new amp once installed. |

I was patient and was able to find one for $749... Its a perfect plug and play and also comes with the ability to add a sub woofer in the trunk if you wanted to. I went with ETON Front speakers and their Subs all are PNP. Night and day vs the STK HK system which stinks..
