License Plate Light Failure

Hello everyone, One of my license plate lights went out. The left hand light above the plate. I'm a good distance to the closest bmw so I'm curious if anyone has had this issue and is it an easy fix because if so I'll try and fix it myself or do I just have to take it to the dealer. Last thing I need is an excuse for PD to pull me over. Appreciate the help

Seems the same general method applies to some number of BMW models.
