I dunno about that. It's the distance between my head and roof that makes me feel small. Like, I feel emasculated. It's like wearing underwear too big... makes you feel small in places you don't wanna feel small in.

A few cars ago, I stopped fiddling with car stereos. I'm an audiophile, and it'll just never sound as good as anything at home. I also don't spend a lot of time in the car. The stock stereo could definitely be louder and clearer though. |

The 788's and I disliked each other more over time. Eventually, outside of the cleaning issues, I felt that they drew the eye away from the rest of the car too much. |

Now, I find myself a bit moved-on from wheels because I keep thinking the popular wheel upgrades for M2/c are looking dated to me. I'd honestly miss the 788 look (although Modesta coating or not, they still blow really F'in hard to clean). |

I've leased quite a variety of BMWs over the years from a Z4 to an X5, and many 5 series including my current M550i. I really appreciate the M2C for what it is, and just enjoyed a 700 mile long weekend with it but must admit I'm spoiled by the M550i room and comfort. In short as much as I like the M2C, I'll probably go for something else at lease end. Although first up is the M550i lease and I'll probably get an X3M. With that, the M2C might be worth keeping a few more years.

Unpopular opinion, but I really liked the 788's when i first saw them and I still like how they look now.
Part of me does wish we could fit 18's on our cars and have a bit more tire sidewall though. I hate having such a low aspect ratio on my car. i'm always worried i'm going to get a blowout on Seattle's pothole ridden roads. And I haven't figured out a spare tire solution yet either. Super first world problem to have though "ohhh my car doesn't ride great BECAUSE MY BRAKES ARE TOO HUGE AND AWESOME!" |

Best ever M car?
Well the M2C is really the best M car I've ever driven right out of the box. I have been an instructor for 20 yrs and had the pleasure of driving most all of the M models in track. All are great cars with excellent engines! I have owned an e36 M3 and a e46 M3 Comp. all with Manual Transmission (as GOD intended). They both have their own distinct and colorful personalities. Love them all.
However, the M2c is hands down best M car. I took delivery in Munich, drove it through Austria, Italy, France and Belgium for a Track Day at Spa. Just amazing on track.......Bone stock. Only scared myself once and had a fantastic time. Was just blown away that I didn't need a modified suspension, or more HP, or super sticky tires. It was just great........ready for track duty. Yes, I will be modifying my suspension set-up and go to track pads and R Comp tires, but I can wait and enjoy the car right now. BMW listened to us! Thank You.........you gave us a great car! |

You need both. Two totally different animals. I appreciate both in different ways as the X5 is a ultra luxury/muscle SUV. It’s outstanding in what it does. I have had two 2200 mile family roads trips and it is what was made for. The M2C is a hooligan in comparison. You can never get a SUV to do what it does. There is a novelty to owning a fast SUV. I am currently getting 3.97 seconds 0-60mph and in that big of a vehicle, it is so smooth/disconnected and effortless that it feels like a aircraft rather than a car. That can be good or bad depending on how many speeding tickets you want.

I have 20K on my 2019 M2C. Bsm, manual, exec pack, slicktop. I have had a number of BMWs before this and am a german car fan, previous daily was a C63 AMG. I currently also have an E46 M3. The M2 I cross-shopped against a Carrera T, Cayman GT4, and an M4. For the price, the M2 is a banger dual-purpose car. Yes, the engine noise is ... well pitiful and it is a bit of a porker but it struck the right balance ... even vs the 911T. I've done a few things as this is a dual duty track and daily driver: M Performance coilovers, GC camber plates, Dinan HE+ tune and heat exchanger, Apex EC7s w/Toyo R888R (track only), motul 660, Pagid RSL29 pads (track only).
I am pleased. Am I fully satisfied forever? No. Do I sometimes dream about the GT4? Yes. Is the M2 a GREAT daily and good HPDE car? Absolutely, it's been rock solid on track with a few minor upgrades that really any car would need. Will I keep it forever? No. It's probably gone within the next 24 months for a Porsche. I have a few slight gripes: 1. Seating position needs some work, It's too high and lacks the thigh pull-out thing. 2. If you're 6' or above the rear view mirror will absolutely block a good chunk of your view. 3. Come on, give me dual auto climate control. 4. M-drivers package is useless minus the speed limiter and overpriced. 5. HK sound system is mediocre. Exec package wireless charging is a joke that will not fit a larger phone. 6. Needs some track-focused/performance screens in idrive, the HP one is a joke. Give me a screen with tire temps + oil/coolant temps + lap timer. 7. I would kill for a dipstick. 8. Intercharge cooler fill location is wonky. 9. 2NH brake clearance is wack. I have had two huge instances of rocks getting caught and gouging the inner barrel. 10. Slight body roll on backroads, it really needs the performance coils standard. 11. Front brake pads are a pain in the ass to swap vs the M3/M4s. Having to remove the whole caliper to swap pads sucks if you're regularly tracking a car but don't want to daily noisy pads. |

It’s a modern classic. Very pleased with mine overall, but it’s far from perfect.
Pros would include a lively chassis, powerful fairly high revving m engine, excellent rear differential, snappy dct, significant tune ability. Cons would include a slightly low rent and dated interior, limited interior and exterior color options, lack of blind spot monitoring, crank hub worries, numb power steering, and being a bit under-tired stock. |

my opinion wavers from 2-3, overall I really enjoy it, but there are things that would be nice like more colors, color options for the interior, less pork, and it does seem to run out of steam above 6000RPM. It is a blast to drive, gets the looks and comments but is not too boy-racerish, even in LBB. I had initial quality issues but that seems to be a fluke/rare thing for these.

After 6 weeks, I love it. Every drive is an event. Most things I was worried about before getting the car I really don't mind. MPGs are fine, HK is fine, sounds good (with the windows down), MT is super fun, seats are awesome, Hockenheim silver is such an amazing color. The power is really plenty for me. This is the first car I own that I can't go WOT 90% of the time. Oh and the suspension is really less stiff then I anticipated. The initial travel is very soft actually, only on really large bumps do you feel the stifness.
I just had no choice in buying this car. My dream car when I was 18-20 was an M3 so this is just the same formula with more power. I would not have gotten this car with DCT, even if it is a great gearbox. To me the entire point of this car is driver engagement. 6MT, RWD, 400 hp coupe. Yes Sir!

Well, I might be in the honeymoon phase as I just picked up my '19 M2C, HS w/ 6 sp. My vote went to the best M car ever. And yes, back in the day, I drove the E36 M3 for 6 months, my best buddy owns a crazily modded E46 M3 + a stock E60 M5 (with the glorious sounding yet unreliable V10 motor) and gave the F10 M5 and F80 M3 a serious serious look, but they both seemed too heavy, if not slightly lethargic. None of them gave me the the thrill and exhilaration the M2C provides.
When settling on this car, I too cross-shopped: looked at a 718 GT4, or a "gently CPO'd" 991.1 C4S, but their versatility is lackluster by comparison. Yes, I do have other family sedans, but the M2C just checks ALL of the boxes, not just the right ones: perfect size, immense FUN FACTOR, style, drivability, usability and price. I seriously don't feel like I compromised on anything by purchasing the M2C. And I'll go on the record that the absolute best car I have ever driven was a 991.1 gen GT2 RS...that was a beast, but I can't see myself owning one, even if I can justify the $$$$$. Also, normally I like to mod my cars (last bimmer was the E92 335is with more mods than I care to list), but with this car I have no desire to change anything. I actually don't mind the exhaust note or the cow udder look (besides, I don't see my own rear while I AM driving), the 788 rims bring out a certain level of understated class, the suspension is firm yet comfortable. The only thing I DO want to add is a full front PPF, but that's not modding, that's investment protection. Yep, I'm good to go with this one! |

I was torn between #2 and #3 and went for the latter. Option #2 is too absolute for me.
That said, I really love the car and consider it a somewhat close second to my previous E46 M3s. I feel the 2C performs very well in all M important categories. It does run out of steam at the top of the rev band but is greatly improved over its predecessor. It will take a lot of car for reasonable money to convince me to trade. If this were my only car the CS would be the car of choice for the money.

I am still of the opinion that is one of the best M cars around... of all time? Probably not... current yes.
I've owned it for almost a year now and there are only a few gripes- 1) I do agree above that the M perf susp should have been standard... the car feels bouncy on backroads that are not perfect. On track this doesn't show its ugly face whereas on uneven windy roads it does. I was very surprised a stock M car would suffer from this. The rear bushing points also seem a bit soft... i think the subframe was bolted directly albeit you still can feel that side to side sway on acceleration. 2) Tire setup - it's not optimal from the factory... they should have went PS4 over Pss and went 1 size up to 255/275 a la M3... this would have made it better in every way. 3) Not really an M car gripe... but a BMW gripe, the paint quality is appalling... it will chip at the slightest rock. Again, not major gripes... just gripes I should not have to be dealing with in a 65K M car. |
