I mean if could have afforded the M2C i would have bought one but they were 6-7k more and i dont think its worth that when shopping for a used one. Mid 40's was my budget limit. I mean you can always fix the styling issues, and i personally think both engines sound good. Just different. The OG sounds rougher and reminds me of a German mustang haha. The M2C is exotic sounding and to me sounds more high class. I dont regret having the OG bc day to day i dont think i could tell the diff enough to care and the seats only look better they are essentially the same bolsters just more up around your shoulders and just cooler looking. 18 M2 is best of both worlds.

whether og m2 or m2c of course comes down to subjective preference
as many of the popcorn observers point out, there will never be an absolute answer the most one can say is "I prefer the OG or M2C because of x y or z" and to add another data point to this: in 2018 I test drove an OG M2 manual and walked away knowing as a NA lover I could not live with the boosty rubber band feeling of the n55 and I wasn't too keen on the rough ride in 2019 I test drove an M2C I was overall "meh" after my test drive but as a lover of NA engines, I much preferred the s55 to the n55, feels much more linear and NA and has a lot more character to it. I also preferred the more composed ride and feel of the M2C even though I was meh about the m2c overall, I knew there wasn't anything about it that I couldn't live with and it was the best manual option out there so I got one and now after living with it for a bit, I love it! in the end, if you are in the market, drive both and you'll know which one you prefer and is best for you |

Then you'd definitely enjoy that N55! And you do!
*brag* Mine now has 500 horses/450 lbft crank. 62-124mph: 7.9s Dragy tested two days ago. Easy peasy. God I hate Imperial, just go Metric guys S55 is King(this is not even Stage 1, just 'GTS') Anyway. What a thread. Again. Cheers Robin Last edited by Robin_NL; 09-03-2020 at 08:11 AM.. |

To this day, I can trace my enthusiast roots to that car. . . NA 5.0L V8 with 5-speed manual transmission. I have adapted to turbo engines with duel clutch transmission, but the fanboy in me will always retain special appreciation for the naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission because of that car. GT Mustang was loud as hell and really hauled ass!!!! Yet, it was rated at ‘only’ 200hp with 265 ft-lbs torque. . . curb weight of only 3000lbs. How did they do it back then? How far we have come . . . or have we? ///AVM |

I've always been a bit different. I grew up around American Muscle, but never really wanted any of it for some odd reason. I was always dreaming about RX-7's, MR-2's, 280Z's, etc. But I did have the occasion to drive an '86 Mustang GT manual back in 1989, and immediately fell in love with the sound, the power, and just the overall feel of the car. Of course, it could never replace my first love (Mitsubishi Starion ESiR), but the car definitely made me see why people loved it so much. Back then I would have chosen the SVO, just because it was different, but there was no denying that I was in love with that V8. The thing is, to this day my favorite automotive sound is a toss-up between the scream of a N/A Ferrari V8, or the warm, loose rumble of a Mustang V8. And I'm not even a V8 guy! |

Both cars are great in their own way. Many of the things being argued over are subjective. There are a few things that are not subjective however. The S55 is a stronger power plant and performs better at the majority of points along the rev range and has more potential with tuning. This is not up for debate. On a track the M2C will outperform an M2 (stock for stock). Neither of these points is really debatable. Looks, sound, interior...all subjective. Personally, I wish i could put the powertrain, and interior from an M2C into and M2 body and somehow keep the M2 N55 exhaust sound. In my opinion that would be perfection.

The car actually did handle pretty well if you got the SHP (sport handling package), which had wider wheels, and A008 tires. It also ran very well with just a few tweaks. I'll have another one at some point. |

Only the seats and mirrors look better on the C (and the bump in power). Everything else is better with the OG.
Personally, I would not trade my OG for the other ones. Only BMW:s I would like to own instead are the M4 and the M8.. |

I test drove an 87 Chrysler Conquest. I really liked it but went for the lower priced Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. But a few years later I traded for a '91 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, the follow on to the Starion/Conquest. I loved that car and would want one again. State of the art 30 years ago with twin turbos, AWD, all wheel steering, adjustable suspension, active aero and more. Best handling pure neutral car I've ever owned.
