M2 CS or wait the CSL?

Now that the M2CS began its production , do you guys think that we will see a CSL variant at the last 6 months of production of the F87 ? Curious , because im considering the M2CS as one of my options , and wanted to see if this could happen .

Unless someone knows otherwise I don't think there is a M2 CSL this generation. Current generation M2 goes out of production in June 2021 so you would think a new variant would be testing now if one was coming. People are complaining constantly about an $83.6k 2 series, imagine them complaining about a $100k plus M2 CSL?

thats true, but i think that was the case with the E46 CSL . It was pretty expensive . As well heard that the G8X M3/4 will be announced later this year , so i see it as almost sure that the CS will be the end of the F87. But its true , there is no time for a CSL variant i think .

I would expect a CSL on the G platform. The current M2CS racing would be about as CSL as you could get with this platform and iirc there is little to no weight savings.

I thought I read that the CLAR architecture saves 100kg over the current generation, but I don't know what current platform it's referencing. Possibly the previous z4. A Pre planned G series CSL with lightweight wheels and battery. cfrp roof, hood, trunk, fenders, drive shaft, and seats plus no back seats and lightweight glass could make for a significant weight reduction. Keep in mind the roll cage nulls some of that.

My guess would be 250kg max on G series platform, and no one knows how much weight will be added over F platform. The CS gives a little preview of expected weight reduction for some of the parts.

There is not going to be a M2 CSL until possibly the G Series. The base G87 is not coming until 2023. By the time the G87 M2 CSL (if one materializes), comes out it won't be until 2025 or so.
